RE4 Remake (PC) Flickering Text (Menu, Loading Screens, etc.) and other texture glitches...
Racking my brain on this one... Sorry for the long read:

I've had this game since release with no issues but, as of the past month or so, it's been showing visual glitches galore: flickering menu text, black blob appearing in the middle of the screen at the title, loading tips missing, and pixelated fog. I've put literally hundreds of hours into this game with no problems, this has never been an issue in the past and just randomly started roughly this month.

I have a 2023 Lenovo Legion Pro 7 laptop - RTX 4080, 32GB RAM, and i9 13900HX

Here's what I've tried/considered with no resolution:

  • I first suspected it was a faulty GPU issue but this is only happening in Re4 Remake (no other game, even other modern AAA's like Dead Space remake) and I did extensive testing through Heaven Benchmark, 3D Mark, Superposition, and Furmark 2 - no artifacts or oddities found, all scores look normal.
  • GPU drivers are up to date and temps look/feel completely fine. It's not my laptop display, these issues are completely isolated to RE4 and the issue even happens on other monitors and TV's (I've tested it). Again, no other game is displaying any issue like this.
  • Tried lowering graphics settings to minimum texture quality/resolution, turning off HDR, turning down resolution (from my native 2560x1600), turning off DLSS, turning off Ray Tracing, etc.
  • Tried turning off V-sync and turning off G-sync (both in game and via Nvidia Control Panel)
  • Tried reinstalling it (completely fresh/deleted folder reinstall)
  • Tried running with no mods

Never found a post about this so I feel kinda alone in the issue. Here's some link footage of what I am talking about:

I know this is a weird one, but any support is much appreciated, thanks!

Had this start happening to me just now, tried most of the same things and haven't found any solutions either. Running on a Legion Slim 7i, 16GB RAM and i9 13900H.

I think I figured out a workaround. The issues start to happen if I open the game on my laptop display, but only if I do that. If I fully uninstall (incl. deleting the folder) and reinstall the game, then open it on a TV or external monitor and never actually play it on my actual laptop display it seems to be okay and never run into issues.

Very weird and I don't know how to get the game to work on my laptop otherwise. I hope we see a fix soon!
For anyone still reading this... I think I found the final fix here, though I'm not entirely sure how.

A couple of months or so ago, I switched from Lenovo Toolkit to Vantage (the default program), updated my bios version, and changed the GPU Working Mode from dedicated graphics card (dGPU) mode to Hybrid - I have not seen the problem since, and I've played hours on both my laptop screen and TV. I am suspecting the last thing I did (switching to hybrid working mode) may be the solution, perhaps dGPU somehow causes some irregularities on the main laptop screen, but this is a complete guess - I recommend folks try all of the above if that doesn't work.

Latest NVIDIA Driver update completely screwed up RE Engine games. Been happening to me since I installed latest driver.
