I think I figured out a workaround. The issues start to happen if I open the game on my laptop display, but only if I do that. If I fully uninstall (incl. deleting the folder) and reinstall the game, then open it on a TV or external monitor and never actually play it on my actual laptop display it seems to be okay and never run into issues.
Very weird and I don't know how to get the game to work on my laptop otherwise. I hope we see a fix soon!
A couple of months or so ago, I switched from Lenovo Toolkit to Vantage (the default program), updated my bios version, and changed the GPU Working Mode from dedicated graphics card (dGPU) mode to Hybrid - I have not seen the problem since, and I've played hours on both my laptop screen and TV. I am suspecting the last thing I did (switching to hybrid working mode) may be the solution, perhaps dGPU somehow causes some irregularities on the main laptop screen, but this is a complete guess - I recommend folks try all of the above if that doesn't work.
