Blacktail is just solid, good all-around. Sentinel 9 probably best for stunning/running strat, with the occasional nice free headpop, and Red9 is just straight up good, and efficient. Honestly, all the handgun options are very serviceable, and probably the most balanced weapon type overall.

Btw remember to also take into account stat that's not shown on table
1) Unfocus aim accuracy
2) Focus aim accuracy
3) Aim focus tolerance
4) Move focus tolerance
5) Recoil
6) Aim focus speed
Some of those stats are not affected by stock that change precision, and laser sight eliminate some of the stats altogether.

Blacktail is overall best. Good damage per shot, small enough bloom to get consistent critical hits, only 2x2, highest dps (not including burst matilda). The only downside is low mag size and you need to be good at handling its recoil. Oh, it's also the most expensive to upgrade + buy. But at least you don't need to waste spinels.

The S9 is in, 90% of the times, better than the SG. Sorry, but p2w gigachad wins again. High mag size, attack speed, and laser sight. 2nd best DPS not including burst matilda.

Red9 has best ammo econ if you're into that thing, but it takes a lot of space and the bloom is huge. Attack speed is pretty low too (3rd in dps).

Punisher is AMAZING if you hit 5 people with it. But...yeah. Very good in castle, becomes far worse than any other pistol in island (5th in dps or 1st if you're good at lining enemies up).

SG. Sorry SG bros, but S9 is almost a strict upgrade to it. Loses out on dps even to the Red 9 (4th in dps).

Matilda. Burst matilda with unlimited ammo is obviously the best. (0th in dps).

But fun fact, the exclusive pistol upgrade increases crit chance for melee attacks (kicks)! But after factoring that in, the blacktail still beats out the S9.

All my testing already included crit chance in the dps/damage calculation.

Tl;dr: blacktail best for god gamers. Red9 good if you don't want to deal with recoil. S9 good if you like laser sights and fighting mano a mano.

The ghost base handgun on normal mode, and on pro mode red9. Crit x5 is obselate on pro mode after castle map. U better of with the red9.

Just want to clarify. Crit is not an instant kill. Crit for PISTOLS do 3x damage and you can crit against any part of their body.

Crit is opselate after castle map on pro mode. Then u need the red9 with stock for pure raw dps.

Most damage per shot, true. But due to shooting half as slow as the Blacktail, it's effective damager per second is inferior to the tail which also happens to be black.

you will run out of ammo faster so no, highest damage per shot is best

My personal favorite is the starting pistol because of the increase crit chance. It would be S9, but I didn't buy any of the DLC.

Sentinel 9/SG-09, both are pretty much sidegrades to each other but still are ahead of the others by a decent margin with the Laser and Exclusive on Pro (without the use of bonus items), next best is the Blacktail.

Minimalist pretty much sum up which gun to go already. Same with no merchant run, pistol choice is always Red9 and not SG
