I've though about that already and it's limiting me to the two weapons and constantly having to open the attache case, which is not.. ideal to say the least. Not to mention that the whole pint of NOT USING the Scroll Wheel in the first place was to not "overshoot" what you're trying to switch to.. The way you're proposing means that if I spin the wheel up 2 or 4 times, I'd end up switching (cycling) BACK to the weapon I was already holding.. Whereas the whole idea of mapping a slot to "Scroll Up/Down" is that no matter how many steps I'd scroll Up, I will ALWAYS switch to (not CYCLE to) the "Up Slot" and no matter how many times I've scrolled Down, I'll end up in the "Down Slot".. The first input will switch to the required slot, while the next couple of additional steps, either Up or Down will be simply ignored, as you're already in the said slot, you will not CYCLE further in either way, unless you are to change scrolling direction. What I want to do is basically "swipe Up" for Slot 1" and "swipe Down" for Slot 2, regardless of how short (1 scroll step) or long (maybe 3, 4 or 5 scroll steps) my "swipe" ends up being.
Also, I might want to only use one scroll direction as a weapon slot, say "Scroll Up" for "Slot 1", while having an additional "Dodge" Key mapped to "Scroll Down" (I can use "3", "4" and "F"&/"G" as they are in reach) for 3 weapon shortcuts and free one Scroll Direction for a convenient action shortcut.
What i've.. "concocted" for the time being, but still only as a temporary workaround was to use my Razer Viper (which doesn't have the 4 nicely accessible extra buttons on top like the Logitech G300S, or Roccat Leadr) and make the scroll wheel only act as a scroll wheel while holding down "hypershift" then as regular action, the scroll wheel would be mapped as scroll/tilt Left/Right (which are not inputs HARDCODED by the game, but ALSO.. they are not usable/mappable for another whatever stupid reason.. but that's besides the point.. ) This way, I still have my regular scroll for the menus and zoomin In/Out on the map for ex. (while holding down "hypershift.. ) and with X-Mouse Button Control I have mapped the Tilt Left/Right to Keys "1" and "2"..
As you can imagine, this is a stupid and cumbersome setup and it requires me to have 2 extra programs running in the background, namely, X-Mouse Button Control (which I have to also close after I'm finished playing because creating an RE4 profile simply won't recognize the game.. ) and Razer Synapse (as mapping Tilt Left/Right on the Scroll Wheel is not supported on the on-board memory, but only in software, while Synapse is running in the background.. ) All of this because of STUPID INPUT DESIGN!..
Wheel scrolling weapons? Way too slow and inaccurate.
That's exactly what I'm saying. Just give us an option to disable scroll to CYCLE through weapons AND give us the option to map/bind scroll up/down to whatever actions we want, including two weapon slots (NOT CYCLING through them)
