Resident Evil 4 Movie References
Just my personal guess to which movies RE4 (original or remake) homages. Some might be obvious, some are my guesses. Feel free to jump in.

Terminator
1984
Directed by James Cameron.
Reaosons:
Leon and Ashley being chased by a seemingly unstoppable and intimidating "human" with a fake red eye
Killer 7 is a direct homage to the gun that Arnold Schwarzenegger poses with on the poster

Terminator 2
1991
Directed by James Cameron.
Reasons:
Hasta luego scene where Leon sets the village chief on fire is somewhat similar to the one liner Arnold delivers near the end of T2. Also while he kills the T1000 with liquid nitrogen, Leon kills the chief with exploding fuel barrels with both failing to kill their enemy.

The Invasion Of The Body Snatchers
1978 version
Directed by Philip Kaufman
Reasons:
A sinister and hostile parasite taking over the human body and just like in the movie, when the ganados see Leon they point with finger and a malice shout to indicate they found a human.

John Carpenter's The Thing
1982 version
Directed by John Carpenter
Reasons:
Much like RE4 this version of The Thing is a remake to a known classic. Obvious homages when it comes to the design of the parasites once they decide to burst out of their host's body. The dogs also take direct inspiration from the famous dog kennel scene in the movie, although in the remake they overdid it with the cartoony looks.

Jaws
1975
Directed by Steven Spielberg
Reasons:
The whole lake scene with the monster. Maybe next time Leon will realize he needs a bigger boat.

Alien
1979
Directed by
Ridley Scott
Reasons:
Verdugo boss fight while Leon hurries to save himself from this basement level mimics almost 101 the last scene of Alien where Ripley plays hide and seek in the same manner while trying to escape the ship. Also Verdugo has obvious deigns inspiration from the franchise signature xenomorphs (with a slight touch of Alien 4). The basic crawling las plagas parasite take direct inspiration from the facehuggers

Aliens
1986
Directed by
James Cameron
The way Luis dies mimics the one of Bishop when the Alien Queen stabs him the same way.
The wood cabin level wher you have to survive.

Mimic
1997
Directed by
Guillermo del Toro
Reasons:
The Novistador's sinister way of masking themselves look oddly familiar to the dreadful giant cockroaches that roam the sewers New York City, that use bad lighting conditions to mimic human silhouettes into fooling their victims

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
1974
Directed by
Tobe Hooper
Reasons:
Dr, Salvador just cosplays Leatherface

Raiders of the Lost Ark
1981
Directed by
Steven Spielberg
Reasons:
There is a part in the village level where Leon must run and escape a boulder roiling after him

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
1984
Directed by
Steven Spielberg
Reasons:
The minecart level sequence is a direct inspiration from the movie.

Léon: The Professional
1994
Directed by
Luc Besson
Reasons:
One of the side arms in the games is named after Matilda, the girl that Léon looks after.

La Femme Nikita
1990
Directed by
Luc Besson
Reasons:
Ada Wong's Separate Ways campaign title screen is a 101 faithful homage to the movie thriller's poster cover

Predator
1987
Directed by
John McTiernan

Jack Krauser's winning screen from the Mercenaries looks like a homage to Arnold's final scene where he rides exhausted in the helicopter after surviving a nuclear explosion.

Feel free to jump in.

These are what I know:

1.Broken butterfly Magnum was a reference to Dirty Harry movie.

2.Laser scene was a reference to Resident Evil 2002 movie.

And these are my speculations:

1.The knife fight between Leon and Krauser is kinda similar to the knife fight Arnold had in the movie of Commando.

2.That scene where Leon has to cut the rope that is tangled around his leg to save himself in the original game is inspired by this scene in Stallone's Cliffhanger movie.

4 remake has a Shining reference:

At the beginning of the game, in the firsr cutscene that Leon speaks with Hunnigan a Gonnado breaks the door with an axe similar to that scene in the Shining movie.

This game has far more similarities with Temple Of Doom than just that.. It's almost the same plot!
Cool finds and explanations!:LeonRE4:
I'm impressed noone mentioned the "all right, time to get medieval on your asses" phrase that Leon's says just before starting the fight with the golden Armadura (strong threat, aka "merciless knight" merchant quest). It's a direct reference to Marcellus Wallace's words from Tarantino's Pulp Fiction.

Guys, what is presented here are just completely wrong speculations, I'm afraid. Resident evil 4 may refer for one enemy to the texas chainsaw massacre but it's fully inspired by only one movie and here, it's not obvious but 100% sure: Dagon (2001). You have everything into it: the Spanish village with the sect, the sacrifices, tentacles and even the most striking Spanish sentences are part of the film "Esta aqui", "Te voy a matar", etc. Don't look any further. it's not the best horror movie you can find but it's a good movie and seeing where the RE4 village came from is just waoow. I recommend it to you.

Yes.

Artists are influenced by previous art.
