What counts as bonus weapons
In order to get the Gun Fanatic achievement one of the requirement is to finish the game on Professional difficulty on a new save without any bonus weapons to get the Infinite Pistol. I was wondering if I can use the Cat Ears to have infinite ammo so that it's easier or they also count as using a bonus weapon.

Primal Knife
Chicago Sweeper
Handcannon

The Infinite RPG can be considered as a bonus weapon as well. But you can only use it in NG+. And NG+ will limit your rank to S Rank.

You don't have to do a No Bonus Weapons run to unlock the Handcannon, you can just get an S on each map in Mercs.

You can unlock the weapon on mercenaries mode. Professional NG isn't actually necessary anymore.

You can technically use the cat ears to make the handcannon challenge easier. But as people have said Mercenaries is the easiest way to obtain the weapon. Only reason to not take that path is if family sharing is stopping you from playing mercenaries?

Primal Knife, Chicago Typewriter Handcannon and the Infinite Rocket launcher.

The Chicago Sweeper and the Primal Knife don't count as bonus weapons it seems. There are a lot of videos/guides on Youtube where people are doing S+ on Professional using them (collecting 30 spinels as fast as they can to get the upgrade ticket for the infinite Chicago Sweeper). Don't know about the Handcannon, but I think it's the same. And it makes sense. What would be the point in unlocking them when they can't be used? Just for NG+?

They DO count as bonus weapons. You don't need to NOT use bonus weapons to reach S+, but it is a requirement to unlock the Handcannon.
S+ Professional requirements are NG, <5h30m and <15 saves
