Del Lago jumpat attack?

I'm in Harcore on NG+ and I can't dodge it's jump attack. I'll be honest, I tanked it in NG but in Hardcore it can kill me in 2-3 hits and it has me pretty much soft locked at its fight.

RNGesus favored me and it's dead, but I would still like to know how I'm actually supposed to counter the attack. It's specifically the one where it leaps out of the water, into the air, with its mouth open.

I tried moving the boat and hitting it in the mouth and neither seemed to work.

You have to hold A or D to move to the side.

The fight is basically the same sequence of events each time so you will start to know roughly when to expect which attacks.

There's also an animation leading up to the jump attack (does it do a little dive maybe?). You can recognize it and already start moving to the side.

Move the boat right. It mostly will jump to the left side of the boat. Just move the boat right it should be okay.

You should be getting a feeling of when the jump attack is coming based on a number of factors. Like how long he's been submerged and how long you've been attacking him.

From what I remember, depending on which way the camera is panning is usually the biggest tell from which direction the jump is coming (left or right side of your boat). So you are meant to use A or D respectively along with the above information to chose the best path to avoid the attack. If you picked the wrong direction you will probably get hit.

I tried moving to the right before I got lucky and killed it and it still managed to hit me. Am I supposed to start moving before it comes out of the water?

It seems like the boat is turning much slower while you are throwing harpoons. Carefully aiming and waiting for a good opportunity takes more time, but is much safer (at least for me).

Also try to memorize its patterns and be prepared to dodge its jump attack and random debris, When Del Lago submerges, be ready to doge and attack once you are safe.

Once you get the hang of it, you can dodge it most of the time.

It certainly helps to start picking a side before he even comes out based on your best guess of which direction you think the attack is coming from. At least, that is preferred if you like holding onto the harpoon at all times and hope to attack him while he jumps (which might stop you from turning as quickly).

You just have to evade the jumps by moving out of the way. If you've played the original then you might find it's actually a bit easier in the remake.

Just avoid to the RIGHT side. Always right, not left. On Professional that trident attacks even faster and evading to the right always helps.

The boat health is more forgiving than being thrown out of the boat as the swimming QTE gets harder each time in the OG.

nope, I tried always to the right and dodged right into his mouth. Yes it works for most of his attacks, but not always. on Professional

also he has 2 different mouth attacks, one you can dodge when dragged but one when the line gets cut you can do nothing about except throw harpoon.
The most annoying moment of RE 4...
easy on normal, but frustrating on pro.

If you hold A or D you can move to the right or left, whenever he does that i just follow the rope as its connected to his tail.
