Am I stupid
its as simple as that others would say, when they find out I didn't know you could freeze the knights with the lantern in Ashley's section. I am on my third play-through and am now just finding out that i can freeze the knights in place with Ashley's lantern, I have been spending the entire time dodging and dying playing through this section and thought, damn i guess its just supposed to be this hard. Did anyone else know you could do this or have you also just now found out?

It's kind of easy to miss, but in the section where you initially fight the knights to get the ram's head, Ashley throws the blue flames on the knights and freezes them. Same principle here

Don't think about it. I beat that whole section on hardcore only dying 6 times without even noticing how the lamp works and only remembered knowing about that from the original later, because I didn't realize it there either and only heard about it from a friend hearing about it on youtube.

Yes, they make it a whole thing to draw your attention to with the lanterns stopping the knights during the arena battle. They then show a knight being frozen near a blue torch at the beginning of Ashley's section, too, not to mention the horde of knights being stopped by the blue light at the entrance to the mausoleum. The controls to use the focus of the lantern are being shown, what did you think that was good for?

Also ... there's the challenge for getting through her section without freezing the knights with the lantern which you must've gotten on your first time through, then. If all of that didn't tell you you could freeze the knights with the lantern, I don't know what would've.

I also only realized it at the very end so I was running around like crazy trying to avoid knight's swings. It was truly a facepalm moment when I realized this fact :)

I wasn't sure if the lantern was the same as the flames, so for the first half of Ashley's section I was running around them but IIRC you find a note that tells you the lantern uses a blue flame or something like that.

It was obvious for me

Sure, I just totally forgot about it and the mechanic is basically unnecessary to finish the level. I didn't have the tutorials on and, as I said, simply forgot about that mechanic from the OG where I never actually used it either. Is there a note that reminds you the plagas hate light? There are some in the OG and I seem to remember one somewhere in this game but it escapes me right now. It's a whatevs thing, you get an achievement for ignoring that.

Besides, it's entirely possible to get that blue light stuns them and still failing to realize the lamp is one too. It's not *that* blue.

Yeah the game doesn't really explain it in any meaningful way, so it isn't surprising that a LOT of people don't realize it. I figured it out first playthrough by mistake

Happens to the best of us.

I learned that I could restart the Shooting Gallery after 100h of gameplay.

(Someone had to actually tell me otherwise I think I still wouldn't have figured it out)

I beat the game before I realized they spell out the bonus round conditions at the bottom of the level selection. I'm in agreement with a retired pornstar on twitch they really could've used a different color for that [which is a sentence I never thought I'd type but here we are].

It's not. You can't freeze the armored enemies in the original.

Different things click for different people. I knew that the lantern would stop knights instantly, but I also fell to my death like 3 times after the clock tower.

I think the game tell you this at some point in the game, That's how I know
