Parrying is so broken on professional diff
So first time in a village i try to parry someone with two handed weapon, i guess i cant parry such weapons anymore. Then i loaded back and i tested parry on a guy with small axe. I successfully parried 4 times in a row. Now i got captured and i could try and parry the guy next to the door with Leons gear. I did exactly the same thing and for some reason i just couldnt parry his small axe even tho it worked before. Theres just no way i failed to parry over 40 hits right now while testing it for so long.

Next time you encounter a pitchfork dude, test it on him. Look at the space between the incoming weapon and Leon, and time right before it touches leon. Boom perfect parry. Applies to all parriable attacks. Attack touch hitbox = Parry timing.

Capcom has fighting game dna in its blood and the parry system was born from it I'm sure.

Timing is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to ♥♥♥♥ if you are in a sprint away animation though so that's always rng depending on Leon's rotation.

Parries have to be perfect to work on professional. And while window is not that small - it may be somewhat incosistent if you are not parrying stuff for living

You're restricted to perfect parries only.

If you're getting hit, you missed.

Copium?

I know its supposed to be perfect, but im telling u they dont work most of the time. I thought u cant perfect parry two handed weapons such as pitchforks, but later, somehow i parried a pitchfork by mistake. Theres really not much point in having a knife if parrying doesnt work most of the time and gladly i am not the only one with this problem.

Also not to mention that in some situations like the Krauser fight u just need a knife and i cant imagine what kind of pain its gonna be with this i guess bugged parry system.

Pitchforks can be perfectly parried.

Thats the thing i didnt. As mentioned i parried 4 times in a row. I used the same technique, same timing and everything in next fight where i tried to parry. Didnt work. Then i tried to use it a little earlier, then again at the same time like before and then even a little later. Nothing worked. Then i also parried a pitchfork, pretty much by mistake because i thought u cant perfect parry it. I guess i will just stick to evading all attacks and pray for the best since i cant rely on the bugged parry system.

You can make a save near X enemy and just practise parries on it. I'm sure you'll get it down eventually.

And you'll really appreciate the Parry system once you get the most out of it.

Breathe in, don't tilt and you'll nail it.

I dont think you are actually reading, but thats what i did. I saved the game and i started testing. Sometimes the parry actually works when it should and sometimes it doesnt work, when it should. Parrying was so simple, even perfect parry on my first run on hardcore diff.

I would also like to comment, but i don't have anything to say really. 85% of my parries work on professional and the rest 15% are clearly my fault in general, the system works fine on my end?

Seriously though, parrying works fine

Same, parrying is fine. People probably don't know a simple tech on how to lengthen input for the game to recognize it as perfect parry.

If it did, there wouldnt be so many reddit posts and steam posts regarding how bad and almost non-functional perfect parrying is in professional mode. If there were few, sure, skill issue, but there are way too many. Some even gave up and are waiting for a mod that makes parry more functional in professional mode.

I myself have no problem timing stuff in other games. I almost always do perfect blocks especially in other different games.

A lot of people not being able to do a thing doesn't make it not a skill issue, there's millions of people who will never beat the game under 3 hours(including me) never mind the under 2 Speedrunners(who by the way seem to parry just fine) are getting, it's still a skill issue.

Yeah. I don't like the parry system in general for this game because I could never get it to consistently work. Even after going for all the S+ ranks, I still cannot parry correctly in this game. It's not a system that I've enjoyed and always feels like there's some sort of delay. Either that or it just doesn't register that you've hit the buttons to parry.

One thing I've noticed is that animations take priority over user input, so if you're in the middle of another action, the parry might not activate. But I've also just had it flat out not work while standing there and practicing despite hitting the button at the right time (repeatedly getting hit while timing the enemy swing and/or looking for the flashing icon in the bottom right).

But I guess the good news there is that you don't need the janky parry timing to work in order to get S+ rank
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I love the parry system, im just not a fan of how poorly it works in professional mode. As i mentioned many times i parry 4 times in a row. Then i do the same timing on a different enemy in different point of the game and for some reason its not working. Now that you are talking about the game not registering it, i think like a few times i smashed space and Leon didnt even bother pulling out knife. Happened only very few times, but yes it happened to me too.
