Chapter 8 Red Lantern tips tricks strats?
Slowly trying to improve my S+ time on prof, I feel my current method for this room's a bit unrefined and wondering if anyone's recognized a better way to do it.

My current strat is to snipe the red boi from just before the curtain with the stingray and then try to rush in with shotgun but I feel it goes rather haphazardly 50% of the time.

If you want speed, the best thing to do is look at speedrunners. Unfortunately, you're a stingray user instead of the bolt action.

Drop down, snipe the red dude twice. Book it to the stairs to the right of him, shotgunning anybody in your way. Before you go up the stairs, shoot the red barrel under him. Afterwards, he will run left into another barrel. Go up the stairs, you can loot the chest while you're there, and then chase him down. Watch out for the crossbow person next to him, but shoot the barrel next to him again. Then 1-2 shotgun shots to finish him off. I'll update with a clip once I find one.

There's a faster strat, but a really high chance of messing it up and it isn't that much faster.

Yeah, for S+ Chicago appears to be the best option, it does good dmg and if you do everything in Village, you can get enough Spinels to get the exclusive upgrade by the time you reach the castle.

Aye, I mean to be fair I already got the S+, just keep trying to beat my time and there's defs bits I feel am doing slower than possible.

But it is true that Chicago would let me focus most if not all my funds into a single weapon and I do feel like I could be utilizing the spinels better yeah.

My method on the red lantern

1) Vault over, don't walk into the room, no cutscene triggered.

2) Pull out no upgrade Stingray

3) Perform fast consecutive five headshots at the red cultist

4) Red cultist will be dead

5) Flashbang your way toward red lantern and bail out

Non S+, casual run method
1) Walk in for cutscene

2) Stealth kill every possible enemies

3) Drop chandelier

4) Dodge around enemies and wait for red cultist to summon plaga

5) Flashbang every two plaga on the field until no more enemy left other than red cultist

6) Red cultist self transform plaga, one shotgun blast into plaga opened mouth and end

Ah nice cheers will give it a look for next time, aye think I might experiment with the bolt action next time since I realize I'm not using as much as I use to now that the bits I did prefer to have it I end up running passed now XD

Coincidentally I've made a video about it.

How I did it:

1. Sneak up to the stairs

2. Knife the three cultists there

3. Drop the chandelier

4. Quickly run to the middle section of the upper floor so I have a clear shot at the red cultist

5. Shoot him twice in the head/neck (aim below the skull) with the bolt action.

6. Switch to handgun, check to see if there's a cultist coming from my right (I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ swear someone teleports next to me half the time) and shoot him to interrupt his charge if he is

7. Red Cultist will run to his left/your right in the direction of the explosive barrel. Shoot it and that should kill the red cultist.

8. Switch to shotgun, run around to pick up the lantern, blast anyone you absolutely need to kill, get the mirror and lantern

9. Hop over the guard railing to the ground floor and juke the cultists and get to the door

Provided you do it right and are lucky, costs 2 rifle rounds, 1 bullet, 1 shotgun shell, and you take no damage.

I usually creep to the left as you enter to room, knife the guy by the ladder, then head towards the guy in red before killing him and moving into the walkway to kill the archer.

After that it's pretty much personal preference how you approach it.

Just keep moving and take advantage of the chandelier and the red barrells.
