Similarly I always wished 2 and 3 remakes had a special mode that lets you play the new version of the game, but with the old camera and control scheme. It seems like it would be extremely easy to do if all the assets are ready to go.
But it doesn't ruin the game for me. For starters, it's a very solid classic fixed camera puzzle-based survival horror RE. And it's not like the series has very deep serious characters.
Billy from 0 is a cocky douche. Carlos is a bit whiny and gets deservingly slapped by Jill in 3. Then there's Salazar in RE4.
Plus the remakes have done a pretty good job updating the characters.
Unless they remove Steve of course!
