How do you get RE Framework working?
There's only 1 file and you're supposed to push insert to get it going.

Well I installed it into steamapps\common\Resident Evil 4\Bin32 and pressed insert after loading the game and also in-game and nothing happens.

Did I put it in the wrong folder?

The dinput.dll file goes directly into the resident evil root folder. It will start automatically when you launch the game.

You put the file in, then load the game, and it works.

I just dropped the dinput dll into the install directory (since I don't care about the VR stuff) and it came up. Just make sure its in the same folder as the EXE

it should come up automatically, but could try hitting insert and seeing if it comes up

Also I'm using the latest "nightly" build.

Just to make sure, you went to this website (https://github.com/praydog/REFramework/releases), scrolled down to Assets, downloaded RE4.zip, and copied the dinput8.dll into your RESIDENT EVIL 4 BIOHAZARD RE4 folder right? inb4 you put it in the RE4 (2005) folder.

I used this one
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/12?tab=files&file_id=1357

but ill try the one you just linked if it doesnt work.

I tried both the root folder and the exe folder which i think is bin32.

Just to confirm, you are putting it in the correct Resident evil 4 game right? My folder path is steamapps\common\RESIDENT EVIL 4 BIOHAZARD RE4. I do not have a bin32 folder.

That is not the game's default folder for me.

This is:
\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Resident Evil 4
I have now extracted the files contained in the RE Framework zip file into this folder minus the name of the zip file folder that zip likes to create.

The folders contained in \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Resident Evil 4
are:

Bin32
BIO4

Bin32 has the executable for RE4.

That's as descriptive as I can get. I did not change the name of the RE4 folder. When I installed it from Steam, it created Resident Evil 4 and not RESIDENT EVIL 4 BIOHAZARD RE4.

My Resident Evil 4 folder now looks like this:
Bin32
BIO4
reframework
Delete_OpenVR_APP_DLL
dinput8.dll
openvr_api.dll
openxr_loader.dll
reframework_version

Yep, still doesn't work. 2 people in here said to install to root RE4 folder which you see above. Someone here said to install where the executable is, which is in Resident Evil 4\Bin32.

I press insert in game and nothing happens. I give up. You guys can argue it out with each other where these files go. I tried and failed.

I'm sure you tried, but you only needed to include dinput8.dll into the folder. You are not supposed to add anything else to the folder. This is what mine looks like.

Some guy deleted his post in here that said why are you putting reframework into OG RE4?

He was right LOL, duhhhhhhhhh.

I'm gonna try it out later.

Main reason I want it is because I want to see how quickly Chicago Sweeper kills things. You can't really tell because the enemies keep getting staggered but aren't necessarily dead. I want to see how the HP works exactly for enemies.

Thanks for your help.

https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/113477m/resident_evil_dlssdlaafsr2xess_vs_built_in_aa/ here is a more in depth guide that also allows up scaling mod if you choose to use but not required :)

In the game folder the following should be in it from the zip folders

reframework folder <--- whole folder not just whats inside it placed in with game exe.

dinput8.dll <--- place in game folder with game exe.

dinput8.pdb <---- place in game folder with game exe.

whatever dll file your going to use for DLSS or FSR <--- not included in the main framework folder must be downloaded by other source (Dll being DLSS/FSR for upscale must be placed in game folder with exe) Only if you choose to use for up scaling

PDPerfPlugin.dll <--- not included in framework folder must be downloaded by other source and placed in game folder with EXE and not to be dropped in with folder that the DLL is already in meaning the direct DLL in that sub folder when you unzip it has to be in with the games exe (No clue why the DLL that is zipped and has been placed in a sub folder confusing me a little but just follow above about placing the DLL file in with the game exe in that sub folder) Only if you choose to use up scaling

You can also use Fluffy mod manager to do this as well, which is what you should be using if you are interested in modding the game. You just place unzipped folders in the mod folder for fluffy, or drag zips in the window, and it will move the files to the right folder.

then load fluffy and it should say there is one code injector, click on that, and click the switch to the left of the name. if done right, there will be a tick besides code injectors

You do that for any mods you want to install.

If you do use other mods, make sure you also download the required files and install them first, especially true if you want to use modded weapons, as that also needs AWF to work.
