recommended games similar and good as this one?
i've exhausted RE4 remake having played it numerous times on playstation and having enjoyed modded versions on pc. every time i play i always enjoy it - the gameplay is the winner here. its close to perfection.

can anyone recommend any other games that are just as good as this (if not even better)?

i've already played the original re4 (whilst a student at university), and also have played dead space series, last of us series, all other RE games (1 to 8), evil within, outlast, tomb raider, the god of war series, DMC, and RDR

Could be a bit of a stretch, but the indie FPS Cultic has a lot of RE4 inspiration. Might be what your looking for?

Well if you want some classic style survival horror, try Signalis and Crow Country.

As good as this but with similar gameplay is a tall order. You named most of the games I would consider. Not horror but Uncharted games are decent as far as third person shooter goes, same for Max Payne (play 3 if you can't handle older games). Vanquish has TPS gameplay but turbocharged, could be interesting to you too. There's also the Gears of Wars games. For a TPS with some Souls flair the Remnant games are great, particularly 2.

But I don't think any of these are as good as RE4make

You played most games similar to RE4.

Maybe try Alan wake 1 and 2
All things considered, Silent Hill 2 remake is PHENOMENAL! Definitely a replayable game (which is great considering the price tag), it comes with like 8 different endings, and they definitely took notes from the recent RE remakes because the controls and flow of combat and everything feels super easy to transition to it.

i played the remake and found it disappointing. its long drawn out and suffers from a lack of enemy variety.

A game so successful the publisher shut the developers down like two months after release.

As if a studio getting shut down is a sure indicator of the game being bad.

Pandemic Studios finished developing The Saboteur and got shut down 2 days before the game was even out.

Hi-Fi Rush was critically acclaimed and even sold well and Tango Gameworks still got shut down.

So what's your point?

I said nothing about the quality of the game.

I was commenting on yet another studio getting shut down immediately after launch because the publisher was expecting blockbuster numbers.

Which, if you read what that post says, is quite literally all I said. Nothing about quality.

Oh pleeeease. The sarcasm in your post was very clear. You were obviously downplaying the game.

I was doing no such thing.

It's a game I intend on picking up at some point as I've enjoyed the series since the dos days. But with the dev shutdown and lack of patches as a result, I can't justify a higher price for it.

You reading into it is your own problem. Thanks for the free points because you read into what I said and leapt to conclusions though.

You won't get the same level of gameplay that a RE game gives. The reviews for the game pretty much tell it all.

Most obvious answer is Alan Wake 2, I don't think it is close to as good, but i'm part of a few it seems, that didn't really like the game. Silent Hill 2 Remake is probably a good choice but still suffers from traversal stutter.
