RE4 Remake suddenly started crashing the entire pc
I did not have the problem so violently in the beggining even with quite high graphics, but after about like 30h of gameplay the game started crashing constantly, first it displayed an error message(D3D error (25, DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG, 0x887a0006). But then the message stopped appearing and started crashing not only the game but the entire pc.
I've spent many hours looking for a fix, tried many things, none of them consistently worked. I've tried: Reseting my pc, updating my graphics driver, changing the cpu thermal paste, putting the game's settings to the lowest possible, verifying the game archives, limiting my cpu usage, but it's STILL crashing. At first, the thing that seemed obvious was the astouding amount of cpu that the game uses, but the last time I played, the game crashed at 30% usage. My pc was reset and cleaned 2 days ago and nothing seemed out of ordinary in the components.

One thing I'd like to add is that I managed to close the game when it crashed in the task manager, however, after a few seconds, the pc crashed nonetheless.

One thing to note is that specifically Ada is, specially in Mercenaries, the major cause for crashes. Weirdly enough I think it has something to do with it, Although the game crashes whener it wants to lol

I do not have this problem in any other game, it's specifically RE4 Remake

My system details:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
RAM installed: 32,0 GB (usable: 31,9 GB)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060

Do a clean driver install using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) and try lowering shadow/texture settings/ Ray Tracing OFF.

I...uh..I found the problem, it's actually that my nvidia gpu is busted, it's crashing suddenly, if I run the game with only the intel graphics driver, it runs like crap, but doesn't crash.

According to the settings, it is a Lenovo Legion, right? I have exactly this model and this is a problem that started happening after 1 year and a half. Were you able to find out if it was a defect in the GPU or motherboard? I never found out if the problem is hardware or software? Reducing the core clock and memory clock as much as MSI Afterburner allows, does not cause the problem to occur, but there is an impact on gaming performance.

Hi! Yes, it is a Lenovo Legion. Not sure exactly where the problem is, at first me and the technician I go to tought it was the GPU's problem, either the Nvidia or the Intel one, but it crashed even if only one them were activated. Probably some error with the motherboard or something but I can't tell for sure.

Results, for the most part, have been inconclusive. It happens randomly but can be induced if the pc is running a more "hefty" game, but it doesn't seem to be related to overheating or high cpu usage(I've tried underclocking it, didn't work, sadly).

I've been having this problem after using this machine for a bit more than 3 years, but changing, even if only the GPU, would require me to change the motherboard too because of the glue Lenovo puts in their components. I'll have to get a new pc, unfortunately.

Don't know if RE4:Remake is related to it, I played it for about 40h, crashed only a couple times and then I stopped playing for a long while. When I came back and the crashes much worse and happening all the time. But I have to say, RE7, RE8, RE2:Remake and RE3:Remake were running really well(although I had the pc for a shorter period of time), but RE4:Remake is REALLY badly optimized.

I wish I could help, but I not sure what to say. Generally, not pushing the pc too hard on its boundaries, using it in the slower mode(blue light in the power button, even when you're playing heavy games(I played rdr2 on this mode lol)) and constantly using the charger on it should help. Check the Lenovo Vantage app to see some options that could help, for example, the limiting charging to 55%-60% option may help having the battery last longer.

I thank you for your time!
