That's caused by DRM. Hence, they need to release the patch this year.

I think the reason is the second main menu screen with the village. If you use the free camera mod in menu you can see it loads almost the whole area plus mountains and even objects behind you don't see in the main menu.

It can be easily fixed if they let the players to turn off that screen and change to default.

Here's the video

Also deleting save files can also help, but until you fill like 2/3 of your slots again.

doubt.
my load is 15 second with half save slots filled and 17s with full.
it you're getting more than that then its probably something about or in your pc doing it.

As the person above pointed out, the long startup time is related to how many save slots you have filled up. A workaround is to just go to your save directory and delete some to reduce the time. I dunno if we'll ever get a fix for this, but it would be nice.

well im presuming he is talking about 1+ min load times, since 17 seconds isn't long.

Yeah, but RE4 is the only RE game that has this issue at all. Even the other recent games don't take 17 seconds to get to the main menu.

well i mean it can't be denuvo then- all of them had denuvo at one point in time and never did it take a min to load.
the difference between the others and this game loads a complex moving scene at the menu and much higher resolution textures and better lighting.
the others are basically static animations that don't rotate the camera.
dd2 also loads a scene, has denuvo and is moving with a few npc.
but the difference in that game is it pre-caches shaders for a min after every update and driver change.

Yeah I never said it was Denuvo, I agree that that's almost certainly not what's causing it.
I don't think the main menu scene loading is what's causing the issue, since with few or no saves it loads basically instantly.

i'm thinking its cuz 15 second loading has to do with 45MB worth of saves it has to scan. doubling those saves would make it 100MB but only takes up 2 more seconds.
but 1 min? these guys have pc issues.

This is definitely not down to PC issues. I have every save slot filled up, both in the main campaign and in Separate Ways (SW saves also add to the time). I've got the game installed to an M.2 WDSN850X SSD. I just did a test and after skipping all intro logos and getting to the black screen, it took 43 seconds. Without any saves in there, the main menu comes up instantly.

The numerous threads about the same thing from other people demonstrate to me that this is related to how the game loads saves and not people's PCs.

i hope you also watch my youtube video showing only 17 seconds.
your pc is probably at fault too.
funny that your nvme ssd has double the read speed of mine but loads longer.
nah it can't be your pc and its obviously magic on my part /s

I think if anything, your video proves that you're the outlier, and it honestly still demonstrates that the issue is there since the main menu still takes 17 seconds to load. Again, with no saves the main menu comes up instantly.

The other thing I'll say is that it appears that over half of your saves are all in the exact same location at Chapter 1. I can't help but wonder if that has something to do with it as well, all my save slots are from different areas of the game.

He also says dragon's dogma 2 runs fine when that is demonstrably not the case both on consoles and pc at the recommended specs.

Running better above recommended does not mean it runs fine.
