should you upgrade the knife you get right after beating krauser??
it's called fighting knife or something, already max leveled up the combat knife including exclusive upgrade, should i sell the max upgraded combat knife and start upgrading krauser knife?? is it any better?

"better" is a very subjective thing in this game. Most weapons shine in one aspect and fail in another. And then there are some "Jack of all trades but master of none".

So, on the long it depends what you prefer. Krauser Knife can deal way more damage in a single slash, but its durabilitly and attack speed is weaker than your combat knife. And both of them cant compete against the fully upgraded Primal knife, which will become indestructable.

So in short:

Combat knife = highest attack rate; weakest damage per hit
Fighting knife = highest damage per hit; slowest attack rate
Primal knife = highest durabilty; mediocre damage; mediocre attack rate

I guess it depends on what you use knives for. I use them exclusively as a defensive tool and for stealth kills and finishers. So sticking with the combat knife for better durability would make more sense as damage output doesn't matter. But if you like to use it more offensively, fighting knife would be better. It can really do some damage maxed out with the special upgrade. You could carry both for more utility as well.

Primal Knife is irrelevant as you'll only have access to it after your first playthrough at the earliest and it'll only be competitive after you've already upgraded your other knives.

i don't necessarily use it offensive, just use it for finisher moves and parry/deftlect stuff, so i'm not actively slashing zombies back and forth with the knife since ammo is plenty

Yeah, then fighting knife is not necessary to use unless you just want an extra one for backup.
