Im getting tired of the "Sorry something went wrong error"
How do I fix the "Something went wrong" error. I know it has to do with the virtual aids that is Denuvo but how can I fix it. Idc if the solution is illegal I just want to play the game I paid for.

I think you should just reinstall steam, but before you do that you may want to try verifying the game integrity.

Will that also uninstall all my games?

You can make back-ups for other games. But if you don't you would have to re-install everything.

Just to clarify, do I have to still make backups if the games are installed on different drives? I have a ton of games installed that’s gonna take forever and I don’t wanna lose them. (No games are installed where steam is installed)

Uninstalling steam won't uninstall your games. If you're worried you can just move your library folder ( steam/steamapps/common ) before you uninstall.

And while you're at it: DO NOT INSTALL STEAM IN THE PROGRAM FILES(X86) FOLDER.

Why not?

program files and the x86 version are protected folders in windows. It affects what sort of access software installs there has. Horizon Zero Dawn is notorious for startup/crash issues when installed there for example.

Just install anything game related somewhere else. Like, if you want to install it on c, go with c:\games\steam or something.

Alternatively you could grant write permissions on directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam" to the users group of your computer. This will allow any software run by Steam to write in that directory without elevation.

That is assuming you are familiar with the concept of file permissions.

Better off just installing steam somewhere else. Less of a hassle. Valve should have changed the default install location years ago.

Yea, using the "Program files" directory to store user data is so "2000s" and also bad security-wise.

But I bet Valve has gone probably chosen the "Why fix something that works??" route.
Thank you all so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much. All I did was delete everything in my OG steam folder (Program (86x) except the Steam.exe. Moved it out to the main C drive and ran it. I didn't lose anything, and now everything boots up properly. Still, Denuvo can go ♥♥♥♥ itself.

Welcome to why valve needs to move the damn default install location.

Have fun spin kicking spanish villagers.
