Chicago sweeper - Clear Professional mode with an A rank or higher
Handcannon - Get S rank on 3 maps in the mercenaries
Unless you really want infinite ammo for everything, you don't need to do professional S+, you just need to get one of the three weapons above.
2) Chicago Typewriter - This time around, you need to complete game on Professional difficulty with an A Rank (i.e., in under 7 hours). If you succeed, you can purchase the base Chicago Sweeper for 1,000 more CP. As before, you need to unlock all of the Chicago Sweeper’s upgrades at the Merchant before you can purchase its ultimate enhancement - infinite ammo.
3) Handcannon - Complete Professional difficulty without using any bonus weapons (e.g., the Primal Knife or Chicago Sweeper), and you can purchase the Handcannon in the Extra Content Shop for 1,000 CP. To transform the Handcannon into an Infinite Handcannon, you have to unlock the weapon’s exclusive upgrade at the Merchant.
The fact they allow the few infinite weapons (not the all infinite ammo headgear), excluding Rocket (cause no NG+) for S+ runs is already a bit strange.
The game half expects you to replay it in subsequent NG+s or fresh runs.
I think your question would be far more applicable to something like... Final Fantasy 12's Yiazmat super boss (a boss that can take literal hours to even multiple days of non-stop fighting to kill depending on how properly setup and strategy you are using) only to get it basically at the point when you are ready to tackle the final dungeon but without any NG+ rendering the weapon of extremely questionable merit. This is for the original one, not the newer Zodiac enhanced release which adds the much needed NG+ feature (including optional start at low level or high level options).
Sounds like you are not very good then since in OG RE3 you could get infinite ammo for defeating Nemesis everytime you can. Infinite ammo for 1 weapon, otherwise you have mercenary mode.
