Any way around 24 hour Denuvo activation limit when switching between Proton versions?
I just landed myself a 24 hour lock/suspension/ban on RE4, probably because I had too many "activations".
I was jumping between Proton builds trying to get the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game to work, and I guess Denuvo sees each one as a "first start" for the game and has to activate it.
I'm probably SOL for now and I'll just have to wait the 24 hours, but is there any way to avoid this happening in the future or is this just another bullet point on the list of reasons why Denuvo sucks?

Not really, no. Good reason to check protondb for suggestions on version to pick.

Thats what got me banned in the first place. Amazing how in 2024 piracy is still the no1 way to play denuvo games without issues

You tried GE Proton? That's what I use for most things. And I seem to recall a thread from yesterday or so where someone got the game running with the Proton Experimental branch.
It just fliickers when i start the game and then i get a Assertion failed error and the game crashes to desktop. None of the proton versions seem to work

I used GE Proton 8-25 and ran the game fine yesterday. Can't stand playing with a controller so I uninstalled it after getting it running on my deck. But, still. GE Proton worked.

As a note: You can't grab GE Proton via steam. It's a separate fork of Proton. I use ProtonUp-Qt to install and uninstall GE versions so I don't have to do it manually. Then it's just as simple as picking a version in the steam compatibility options.

If you're on steamdeck or another linux fork with a built in flatpack browser like Discover, you can just grab ProtonUp-Qt from there.

I'm not the one trying to run the game through an emulator on an unsupported operating system, at inferior performance too. Who's the clown now?

Probably the one making pointless posts in a linux thread. So... still you.

A linux thread about circumventing security measures of a Windows game, which can't be solved without pirating the game. Quite a few levels of "pointless" in the OP post, don't you think?

No part of what's happening involves "circumventing security measures".

OP asked a question, it was answered, then you came in to be a waste of space.

Go grab ProtonUp-Qt. Like I said, GE 8-25 worked fine yesterday.
