Is it worth buying physical copies of Resident Evil games on PS4/PS5?
The last Playstation I bought was PS3. After that I've been playing on PC, but since I have physical copies of RE games up to PS3 I was considering on buying PS4/PS5 copies just to contunue my collection and have the games preservated for the future. I'm asking this because I've heard a lot of people say that physical copies are not worthy anymore because the game data doesn't come full on the disc and you still need to download data from the servers to play them. Is this the case with modern RE games? Let's say, in 20 years from now when PS4/PS5 servers get shut down, Will I still be able to play the game with the disc as I do with the PS2 discs?

I'm not sure about the ps4/5 launches, but generally speaking these modern games will be shipped nearly complete. You're having to download gigs of patches and updates day 1. I don't think you're downloading the data from the Capcom servers but rather from the Sony store servers. So you don't really need to worry about Capcom shutting down unless there's some code that connects. Best way to tell is play it offline by disconnecting wifi or the cable and seeing how it works.

Assuming your ps4/5 lasts 20 years from now, you're probably going to play a sort of incomplete game unless you downloaded all the patches and updates and your storage never gets corrupted or reset. You might want to wait for like a green labeled "GOTY platinum" edition which will likely have the most up to date version of the game on it.

In my opinion, probably not worth it in modern times. I do still have my PS1 RE games too and still play them to this day but like you, I haven't bought a physical copy of a game since ps3 era.

Yo I remember even waayy back in the ps3 days like 20 years ago (feels odd it was that long ago) you'd have to update your store bought game with a gig or 2 patch before you could play it (if u were lucky it was like 700mb) but its been a thing for a good minute now, even on consoles.

also for the reasons of preserving your library for the future, I'd think you'd be best owning it on the ps store as I'd imagine your library of psn games would come with your psn account to your next playstation or maybe even allowed to be emulated onto windows by then officially as a sony and microsoft make a deal or whatever? who knows what will happen. in any eventuality though id thing owning them digitally would be best for the future. and if i may say so, the best way to play them on tomorrows hardware would be to emulate them, so it kinda doesnt matter where you get that digital copy from.
