I found a Golden Egg in Separate Ways in the begining is it worth to hold on to?
Or will there be a request from the shop keeper later on so i can turn it in?

It is laying on a bed in the village after you have been to the chefs house. The house is the one where a dude jumps out of a closet in the main game.

Yes there is a Merchant request tied to it, it's call 'Egg Hunt'

I have found the golden chicken egg in the named house (where one guy jumps out of the closet in the main game), but now in any new playthrough, the golden egg is not there anymore - is this a bug?

The egg spawns after you return from the Chief's house.
