How do you deal with spiked regenerators on Hardcore?

I played through the main game on Normal and Separate Ways on HC, and that one encounter with the spiked regenerator was nuts.

I had less then a full mag of rifle ammo left, tried spamming it with the crossbow, nades, also tried knifing upclose and spamming the fully upgraded TMP, nothing was enough to expose his multiple parasites, and I kept getting staggered by the spike attacks,

No idea how this encounter is beatable without at least some rifle ammo

You need a sniper rifle to deal with him. Or you need a weapon does an insane amount of damage like the chicago sweeper.

You can also shoot its leg and move past him.

A sniper rifle with a thermal scope is OK and also you need super accuracy because the spiked regenerated can't be stunned when parasites are hit.

That's what I'm asking though, I had maybe 7 rifle bullets with a thermal scope. Is there any beating them if I'm out of rifle ammo?

You can simply deal an insane amount of damage to them afaik...but it's a huge ammo sink lol

You don't have to kill it. Use a flashbang and move on.

Time parry correctly and you can parry when it throws the spikes. It's tough, but it can be done. Otherwise, as @FuriousFool said, flash grenade him.

Bioscope its parasites then keep shooting it in the head.

If you don't have ammo, shoot it until it dies. The shots will take away parts of its skin and you can see the parasites.

I know I don't have to, but I'm curious about ways of defeating him in a situation where I don't have rifle ammo

Like I said that's what I tried doing but it seemed like no amount of bullets was enough witha fully upgraded TMP

After dying a million times i decided that the best course of action was to kill the first regenerator and then throw a powerful granade and run past the iron maiden like the chicken i am.

Shotguns and SMGs are great tools to stop their movements and attacks, while also help you reveal and damage the parasites.

ye, that's what i did, as in read the title only :)

I didn't even know if a TMP would even do anything against a regenerator if you have the stingray it really shouldn't be difficult to get to a safe distance and pick it off. But I pretty much use the pistol exclusively on regular enemies so I will have a lot of shotgun/rifle ammo for special enemies and of course sell the TMP so I stop getting useless submachine gun ammo.

As I've stated now 3 times in this thread, I had less rifle bullets than that thing had parasites in its body.

As I've stated now 4 times in this thread, I didn't have enough rifle bullets so I tried different approaches with the weapons I've had.


Did everyone just collectively decide to stop reading?
