Bunch of interesting scenarios and events were added that weren't in original separate ways, dialogue and writing is pretty much on the same level as it always has been in RE games, Weskers personality was improved, Ada's voice acting is better in the new cutscenes compared to the ones in the main campaign. Something to consider.
It isn't "essential," but it's a good time with some new ideas to keep things fresh.
The amount of people who incorrectly call the ganados "zombies" still surprises me to this day.
If you like the main game, chances are high you'll like the DLC, too, and there's worse you could get for ten bucks either way. If still unsure, wait until it's on sale.
What exactly are you asking?
“Our zombies are different”
No. Nah. Nope. They are not zombies, just like the necromorphs in Dead Space are not zombies, and the freakers in Days Gone are not zombies.
