"Jewel thief" request bugged?

At the end of chapter 12, just before the ride to the clocktower, there's a request to obtain a jewel from a crows nest, however I already destroyed the nest earlier and now the request is unfinished. Any way to fix this?

I noticed the bird comes back to the nest even after your shot the nest

I sold the jewel and it didn't complete. Now the crow doesn't drop it anymore, so I think this may in fact be bugged.

It isn't a crow. It is a nest. Its the nest just above the area directly in front of the door leading to the merchant at the fountain with all the fish just where Ashley turns briefly mind-controlled traitor (aka the place before the red robed dude and before the maze, etc.).

That crow actually can't die either. If you shoot it, and then move the camera so the dead crow is outside your FOV, and then look back, the crow is alive again.

As soon as you can get into this area you can shoot the nest right away for the scratched emerald. So right after the black water room scene

I shot the nest and sold the gem this time before I got the request and it correctly counted as completed. So if it doesn't work for you, it's certainly a bug and not supposed to be that way. Best report it?

I always grabbed the scratched emerald on every run at the start of chapter 8 (rather than chapter 11 or 12 when you finally get the mission). So I don't even know what people are talking about with the crow.

Frankly, did some testing. You can sell the scratched emerald to complete the quest as early as chapter 2 when you first run across the merchant. Same goes with vipers, lunker bass, and the golden chicken egg. You can do those quests at any point in the game. The Lunker bass and scratched emerald say "quest failed" after you pass certain chapters, but that's not true and just a visual error. You can complete those "sell a thing" quests at any point, even if the request says failed in the menu. It will then correct the request information to say it's completed.
