lack of hit stun ruins this game.
shooting somebody in the head should auto stun them, me needing to shoot 2-3 bullets just to stun an enemy is bs. same with snipers not one shotting to the head. like what mouth breather thought making a fully upgraded sniper not be able to one shot a basic grunt in the head was a good idea.

If you want to complain about something complain about Leon being able to be stunlocked as 5 different enemies combo your ass.

You guys sound like you suck ass at this game, upgrade your guns and one or two shots at most is a guaranteed stun, it’s a good thing it isn’t as free as it was in the OG because that ♥♥♥♥ was stupidly broken and easy to do, now it’s earned, now you gotta actually use your head more when it comes to positioning, now you can’t just “lol melee” 20 enemies at once and worry about nothing, Leon is far faster at moving and parrying nullifies any damage if you’re good enough, not to mention ducking, it sounds like you’re playing this game just like the original even though it’s a remake and a different game,

Git gud

Not the gunpowder drop but the attaché case.

If you are using the gunpowder attaché case already, and have the charm for -1 gunpowder for crafting, the only thing I can suggest is riot gun with max power and exclusive upgrade for 1.5x damage. The riot gun carried me. With exclusive upgrade I think it does 18 or 19 damage and it has a fairly tight spread.

Rifles can't really match that in damage, fire rate, and ease of use, and magnums can't match the frequency of shotgun ammo pickups or crafting.

The maxed out Springfield does 31.2 damage when shooting at weak points.

What is this so called 'skill' that we are apparently all missing that somehow negates all the randomness of the game? Seriously, I want to know, maybe it will open the game up for me some more.

How is it a skill issue if, with a maxed out SG09R with a laser sight, ganados can still take 2 - 4 head shots to stagger, sometimes never staggering at all ? Forget leg shots, that was taking 4 at minimum, sort of defeats the whole saving ammo purpose of melee.

You are ridiculously vulnerable in this game. Anything that has even slight recovery, where the player temporarily has absolutely no control , the enemies have a huge tendency to instantly grapple you. Honestly I expected to see so much rage about this ♥♥♥♥ but no one talks about it. When did this become acceptable? Stunlocking a player is a huge design failure.

Using the knife to stab them in the face/eyes is a 1-hit stun (specifically the stab when aiming the knife, not the basic slash)
Head-shots are a slightly random effect, sometimes one shot will stun, sometimes it won't. Not sure if this has to do with whether an enemy is specified as a mutating parasyte host or not.
It's best to shoot a leg twice to stun, imo.
Same leg, twice is a guaranteed stun. This can be more tricky in the castle as the enemies have robes that cover their legs, and may cause you to miss.

What difficulty are you playing on exactly?
My base stat sniper rifle (never put a single upgrade into the first rifle) can one-shot enemies and pop heads all day on standard difficulty until you get to the island, where enemy health is increased beyond the original power stat's capability and needs a bit of an upgrade to power to handle it.

I do agree with capacity being nearly pointless since it doesn't refill ammo anymore.

Also thats a good mention i was literally never able to suplex not that i was actively trying but it never happened i guess you have to get behind them first before shooting the legs because theres no way near enough time to circle behind them during a stun on Hardcore far as i can tell.

Doing a suplex is achieved by random chance. Every now and then, a stun will spin the enemy around and put them on their knees, this is the only animation you can perform a suplex with, (as far as I can tell)

Just to mention but you can actually suplex every time if you run behind the enemy when you stun them by shooting their leg. Sometimes they spin around to make it easier for you to suplex them

Exactly, the game is cheap and the enemy gets cheap hits in all the time from lack of I-frames during animations which leads to unfair bs hits where you had zero control. Grabbing is bs too, your natural instinct would be to shoot them to stun them and it works in 4/5/6 but not this game, you shoot a grunt as he's charging you he eats the bullet as if it had zero effect. Stupid gameplay design choices really bring down the game as a whole.

In RE4 the shotgun was pretty mid aside from the occasional crowd control, the red-9 was literally the best gun and can take out enemies from basically any range.

I agree, the new damage model sucks ( atleast on Hardcore+ ). Stuns need to be consistent with a fixed amount of required shots, rather than RNG where you need between 1-3 bullets to trigger the animation. TMP was my most used weapon in the OG on Pro for triggering stuns and following up with melee - but this simply isn't possible in the remake. This time you no longer can rely on CC and melee. Also shooting an enemy in the head 3 times before he staggers feels ridiculous.

tl;dr Remake is a great game until standart. At hardcore+ it becomes frustrating due to the damage model.

It was maybe sorta the best handgun until chapter 4-3 really (or whatever chapter is right before the minecart section).

Then the handgun unlocked it's exclusive and suddenly has around 9+ firepower instead of the Red9 who would have to wait several chapters later just to get a weak 6.5 fire power. Crits are serious business in the original.

Ask yourself that. Maybe in the fact you are putting yourself in a situation where you are needing to stun instead of keeping distance or parrying? But that definitely can't be the answer. The fact people can S+ professional without dying is just random luck. There's definitely no way people can just play better...

You didn't used to be able to parry, now you can. If they're swinging at you, just block it. We're only talking hardcore here, not even professional where you are ALWAYS required to perfect parry. In my professional run, I've only died a couple times to the same Garrador trying to knife him to death for the achieve. So either I'm incredibly lucky, or I'm just not relying on a stun? Having a reliable stun + parries would make the game waaay too easy.
