Maybe I am remembering with rose-colored glasses? I'll have to go rewatch that section.
Edit: looks like you are correct about the no puzzles, but I am quite fond of the gondola and don't find the area boring at all (relaxing maybe). I enjoy shooting the ganados as you ride the car, and I like the open area and the little attached building with items, the mini cave system and the catwalks. The new implementation just felt very linear and unsatisfying to me, but I respect that this might be a niche opinion.
maybe in seperate ways there was a bigger puzzle part but i dont remember that
Yeah the little area that I describe above was replaced with the chase sequence which I didn't care for. I think overall they did a great job with the village part but this specific section I was let down by. I guess I can understand how the new version fits the pacing of the game and a realistic village layout better, but I'm just fond of little non-linear areas to explore.
Yeah, honestly this game is a 10/10 for me but also makes me want to play the original again due to just how much was changed. It's crazy how different the castle is for example. Not bad, just different (in fact I would argue that the new castle has better design than the original, but it's definitely missing some of the fun/nostalgia factor from the OG).
Yeah this is a fair point. I did notice the infamous lava room is gone from the castle now haha. I think they did a really good job with the pacing and level design in REM4KE compared to the original. Good thing I have both versions so I can still get my full nostalgia fix though.
