Resident Evil is much better off being an action packed series
There's a reason why Capcom eventually moved on to a more action packed survival/adventure game, because slow ass paced horror games are still niche and don't sell well. Horror games lose pretty much most of its essence on its second playthrough because the horror element decreases everytime you replay it. Now with fast paced combat with a mix of action and tense levels, with plenty of enemies to shoot and kick arse feels much better the more you get better at doing it. I just can't possibly think of "Godayum! I'm so good at hiding in closets!" Pfft horror game my arse. Action/replayability sells a lot more.
For that reason, I have replayed RE 4, 5 and 6 countless times and everytime I feel I'm getting better at the games fun combat mechanics, now how many playthroughs have I done on outlast? Or 1 or 2 because it doesn't take long to know how to run and hide under tables lolol.

Bring your pitchforks.

It's always been action packed, or are we all pretending we weren't flush with ammo in RE1-3?

i kinda agree it fitted in the beginning because the events that unfolded was new to the characters
but as they survived those encounters and grew as characters
more action resident evil makes sense because they got more skilled.

No it wasn't, go play Resident Evil 1 and I'm sure you'll come here complaining that you only found 20 bullets in the first two hours of the game and that you had to avoid a lot of zombies because you couldn't kill them

I agree to some extent, I like when its combat focused, but you also gotta mix in some horror elements into it even if you think it declines after a few playthroughs it still holds a nice vibe and it just works with Resident Evil. Like the atmosphere, or having certain parts scarier than others. Resident Evil 2 Remake basically perfected this.

For me it was less about the action and more about the pace, the tone and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ CoD knockoff sections.

I think that ''slow ass paced horror'' is good for a early game and it fits resident evil and then middle game to end a lot of action, which also fits resident evil as well, so what im trying to say is, I'll gadly accept the mix.

Also very true, and this survival horror came in a right time, late 90s and early 00s was the best timing for games like this.

Biohazard was always an action series with horror elements. It's just that ammo in the original series was scarce.

capcom had nothing to do with it, RE4 was originally going to be a slow paced survival horror however halfway through development shinji mikami decided to scrap the project and restart it as an action game
Even in Resident Evil 2 I felt the game was starting to be more action oriented then the original. I actually go around making sure to kill most/all enemies instead of trying to avoid them.

Resident Evil 1 was definitely the most survivial horror of the franchise ( although I admit, there are a few I never got around to playing, like CV or Zero ).

I've played all the RE's, and RE1 (while more sparse than the other 2) still gave you plenty of ammo to not worry. In RE2 it gave you enough ammo to kill everyone twice over, and 3 is spray away no worries at all.

having a weapon does not mean that the game is action game, you are confusing two different things, even Silent Hill games contain weapons, so are they action games?! The classic Resident Evil games were never action games, they were survival horror games par excellence

Your post proves him right with RE4 and 5 being the biggest sellers.

When something becomes popular it loses the quality it originally had, the mainstream may buy more, it don't mean it's quality is better.

They moved from prioritizing quality to what makes the most money.

This is not true, if you try to kill all the enemies, you will not be able to complete the game because you will not be able to defeat the bosses, the game forces you to save ammunition
