Staff Zealot question

Is it possible to shoot the lantern and basically turn him into a regular one? im on professional, in the castle, where hes first introduced, and i just do not want to deal with the bullet sponge plagas zealots. Is it possible to hit the lantern on the staff, and neuter his ability? because i feel like i got super lucky once and hit the staff, but i dont know if that was a crit or if i hit the lantern

1 he dies fast to the stingray and the blacktail
2 Those tanky Plagas are actually not very tanky at all and no I'm not talking about the flash nade trick.

Plagas ...I think it's B right? Anyways the mandible ones were changed in that they only take full (read extra) damage from gunshots if you hit the pink fleshy bits inside the " mouth ".
If you shoot the skin of them it does sweet FA. Not great if there's tons of them but useful all the same for ammo conservation. Use a high crit chance weapon ( leon's starter pistol with the exclusive upgrade ) or tag them in the mouth with the rifle / magnum and they'll go down in 1 or 2 shots max. Probably more if you're forced to pistol them.

i had a suspicion that was the case with the pink skin part, but normally theres just too many zealots to deal with to aim properly especially when theres those really annoying crossbow guys. but that is good to know, thank you, as for high crit, im using the DLC weapon, the one that has i think a 5x crit chance or something? anyway, i have it fully upgraded, and that thing carries

You can stealth through that bit and drop the chandelier on the zealots below. I don't know if it kills them because I brute force my way through everything but if it does that effectively renders him all but useless since there's only a couple of outlying enemies after the ones in the center, if you drop the chandelier with your rifle out you might be able to drop all of them before any of them even know what's going on.
