PSA: softlock in castle while playing as Ashley
If you do the clock puzzle and get the Salazar family insignia BEFORE getting the set of keys in the library and using the elevator, you will no longer be able to use the elevator and will have to load a previous save.

Edit: I know the side passage with the stairs is supposed to open if you get the insignia before going into the library. It did not for me. Others have experienced this bug: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2050650/discussions/0/3827536762642264723/

It's not really a soft-lock, since you can still continue the game.

Because once the emblem has been obtained, the return path will be the same as if we had done everything normally.

Afterwards, it's true that we lose the treasures in the chests, since we won't have the keys, and we won't have unlocked the stairs for Leon... But it saves a little time.

sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. What would the return path be if you're completely unable to use the elevator? If you get the emblem before the keys, you aren't able to use the elevator at all. Where else can you go?

I was trying to grab all the treasures in the Castle and totally effed that attempt by trying to do a big skip out of curiosity, should've saved it before but i stupidly relied on autosaves, big sad T~T

But yeah not a soft lock or anything, just a good skip if you're speed running, working as intended i assume?

You would just leave, since the crest is the final piece you need to do so.

You take the normal path you would need to take after reaching the elevator. You slip by the armored plagas knights and run up the stairs. I just did it in my professional run. There is no softlock for not grabbing the keys. You were simply mistaken.

I don't think you understand. I was literally unable to progress. Maybe there's something else I did that triggered the bug, but I couldn't go anywhere. I first got the crest, then got the keys, then opened the elevator and couldn't ride it up. There was no prompt to use the elevator once inside it. There were no stairs to run up: the secret passage with stairs that lead up to where the elevator goes is not open because you have to use the elevator to even get to the crank that opens it. I'm not "simply mistaken." The game bugged out but I guess it's not as common of an issue as I assumed.

I couldn't leave. The elevator was unusable and the stairs were not yet open because you have to use the elevator in the first place to open the passage that has the stairs. I know the elevator deactivates after the first use, but that's not what happened. I didn't use the elevator at all. I got the crest, then got the keys, then opened the elevator. Once inside the elevator, I could do nothing. There was no button prompt. I was spamming F on both buttons inside the elevator and nothing happened.

I did the same thing. Got the crest before ever setting foot in the library. Then I Ran through the library and up the stairs. No softlock.

Seriously? I guess I got unlucky. The stairs weren't open and the elevator, despite being unused, would not let me interact.

In my game if you first grab the crest then the passage will be unlocked automatically and you don't need to use the elevator at all.

Then....don't get the keys?
What people are trying to tell you, is if you ignore that elevator and get the symbol ANOTHER path opens up along the wall.

If you had taken the elevator, you travel down a set of stairs and open that door from that side but if you didn't and got the symbol it will open up automatically.

It is not a bug, you just have to stop focusing on not being able to use the elevator and look at the new path that opened up.

Was not the case for me. Passage was still blocked.

How helpful... Yeah, can't believe I didn't think of just un-getting the keys.

I would like you to take a screenshot of the map and where that door should be then.
Because I have done this on 3 playthroughs now and it opens up every time without me going up.
