ashley is far better in the remake. you're literally stuck in the past defending something that was universally agreed by the fans of the game to be ♥♥♥♥, cope LOL

Comparing OG Ashley to Remake Ashley is basically like comparing the beta version of Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite to the final version.

To quote Ken Levine:

How do you make people care about a puppet? Because let's not kid ourselves, that's what it is: a puppet.

Personally, I couldn't be bothered less by Ashley being out of breath after running a great distance (which Leon also does, by the way, and which is probably the most realistic thing about the game). Better that than what was far more transparently a puppet back in 2005, mechanically following you around and remaining silent outside of screeching obnoxiously whenever enemies came into contact with it.

And that's another thing: let's talk about Ashley's voice acting. This person is supposed to be twenty years old. She's literally supposed to be a college student.

Back in the original game, she sounds far more like a high school adolescent (my opinion).

At least the Remake makes her sound like an actual young adult, not to mention giving her the appropriate level of competence that comes with that age of maturity (assisting Leon to a greater extent at the Barricade Cabin, Slaughterhouse, during her playable portion in the Castle, and at the Island).

TL;DR:

OG Ashley is a girl.

Remake Ashley is a woman.

Can't believe there are clowns out there that think the old Ashley, known for being as annoying as Navi or Sheva, was somehow less annoying than new Ashley. And that's giving Navi and Sheva a bad rap, because old Ashley yelling for help is far more annoying than either of those two.
