-Tons of light leaks everywhere. Even on Leon's face. on his eyelids and lips, looks weird af.
-Some places tend to be too dark because of ssao
-Small objects don't cast shadows.
-Screen space reflections are so terrible that game looks better without them.
-Some shadows have a weird grainy look it also looks terrible.
-Game's own TAA and upscaling solutions suck, you either get shimmering or a blurry look
Overall, game is a bit disappointing on the visual aspect. Don't get me wrong, devs have nailed that atmospheric look while keeping in touch with original. But as much as the environmental design looks incredible it sometimes hurts my eyes because of all the issues.
The subtle light glow effects that overlap characters from (merchant/normal) candles. Creating this foggyness and contrast between warm and cold hues.
But the main issue to me stands where they felt the need to change location's architecture. The OG nailed it, this one, not.
"The architecture isn't the same"
So 2nd quote goes against first quote, you also don;t own the game, expected as much backward logic.
If you are interested in what I mean with that comment, I'm willing to show examples of the OG sometime later. Otherwise, feel free to ignore my comment and criticism. I think it's funny though. Tripple A studios keep aiming for realism but it's clearly hurting the overal aesthetic. Whether it's lighting, fog and color in the environments.
You can criticise but you are not objective, it's your own subject taste.
The art appreciation is one of the most 'personal preference' thing.
Exactly. That's my point. They aim for realistic faces, animations, lighting ect. Yet they don't leave any space to divert from what looks realistic in terms of lighting.
Ha. You're wrong. The criticism I have is very much objective and comparing technical aspects of a game's color use and lighting.
I bought both consoles and sent them back, they never look like PC graphics, they are stripped down in more way than one.
