Riot shotgun still feels like its spread goes outside the circle but at least it's a tight circle and is semi auto
a very handy weapon for sure
It's nice but you have to aim with it, the Striker and Skull shaker have much more widespread, which means less damage but more knockdown.
The riot is much better at killing
The Striker is much better at crowd control and as a push away weapon
riot gun is also eye candy to me.
Meanwhile, due to the tighter spread, the Riot gun actually sucks at pushing the enemies away from you.
Still, I think the Skull Shaker is actually a very nice alternative since it's super duber cheap, more powerful than Striker and super quick reload.
The 1st shotgun is next arguably. Great dmg but not much better than Riot Gun. Its got worse fire rate and is basically a slightly weaker alternative to Riot Gun with mainly fire rate and spread being the weakest parts. It is very consistent performance compared to Striker and Skullshaker, though, both with regards to single target dmg (headshots for instance), knockback, and for use on bosses. A rifle is better though because what it trades for a Rifle can supplement better leaving Riot Gun in a better place.
Striker has very poor accuracy, good dmg but it doesn't always hit and the dmg is so spread it actually doesn't do as much as it looks like vs bosses or single target headshots. In truth, its mainly crowd control spread dmg and knock back which it does okay with its large ammo capacity and very fast fire rate. Unfortunately, reliable is not the word I would use for it. You will understand when testing it in the training area where it can take sometimes 8+ bullets to down a single target. Testing this during actual play on enemies/barrels and breaking hanging treasure containers I've found this thing to miss even point blank due to its poor accuracy and how its coded which just makes it quite unreliably unless willing to spam. However, it has a hidden perk that does make spamming extra bullets to do its job and increase its reliability viable. Ammo drops is based on weapons in active case and amount of ammo stacks in actaive case. Loaded ammo in a weapon is not counted and Striker has an insane capacity for a shotgun of 48 rounds which don't count against owned ammo until you have more than it can hold stacked in your case (aka its 0 as far as ammo drops are concerned in most cases) meaning highly frequent shotgun shell drops compared to any other shotgun and even most weapons aside from TMP/Matilda.
Skullshaker simply is a worse Striker except it doesn't have Striker's ammo perk. In fact, at lv 1 it has 2 arounds max... and at lv5 (max) upgrade it has 6 which is 1 more ammo capacity than the next worst lv1 shotgun capacity in the game. Its got such bad fire rate at low fire rate upgrades it cannot be safely used on Salvador in the first fight without a window otherwise you probably will not stagger and will die or have to waste tons of knife durability blocking for a single shot... It can't even achieve a 50% 1-shot head kill on professional difficulty at the start of the game in the village fight... due to its exceptionally poor spread and dmg. I actually recall being annoyed that pistols did better dmg when I tried to seriously use this gun until many upgrades but even at maxed upgrade its dmg due to very high spread but poor fire rate is quite poor (technically higher than Striker but it lacks the ammo generation hidden mechanic so it can't get away with spamming plus its got to reload too frequently at 6 ammo cap vs 48...). Its smaller size doesn't do as much as you would think for case space, especially since it will have the most space wasted in contrast on ammo shotgun shells since it has low ammo capacity.
It's also the reason why I'm not a fan of the SMGs in the remake. their spread is to large. The SMG in the OG was my favorite weapons and I easily defeated Salazar and Krauser with it. In the remake I rather stick with weapons like assault rifle and riot gun as i can actually hit what I aim at with these weapons.
