Ashley's Part can't escape bug?
So far on two attempts I have discovered what seems to be a way to get permanently trapped, and be forced to restart.

If you open the clock wall to the crypt and get the Salazar Insignia before going up the elevator where you are supposed to place the Insignia, the elevator does not work and there is no way to escape. Am I forgetting something from my first play through or is this a bug or possibly a "feature"?

I've attempted 2 different reloads of my save at this point to try and fix this bug. I went and got the Salazar crest first, and it bugged. I went and got the keys first and it bugged, however I used the keys on the elevator before going to get the crest. I wonder if that caused the problem??

SOLVED: Start off with Ashley not solving the clock puzzle, instead go right into the Library and get the keys. Use the keys on the elevator and hit the button. It just worked for me after not working on previous saves, where I would go get the Salazar Family Crest first before trying to get in the elevator.
Thanks gonna try this tmr lol, tired of running around with those zombie knights killing me smh
If you break the sequence by unlocking the very first clock you see (leads to mausoleum)
The second clock door path will be open automatically, and the lift WILL NOT WORK, you are supposed to exit through the second clock pathway, that you normally open by:

- Spawn in as Ashley
- Go on till you see the first click, ignore it and take the door left.
- You're in the library now, there's a key at the other side of the elevator.
- Unlock the elevator, and take it up, CUTSCENE
- In the same room there's a note of a time, either 11:04 or 07:00.
- There's a clock inside the room with the hour note (this is clock nr2) and leads you back to the library. (This is the exit you're supposed to take when you retrieve the Salazar Crest in the Mausoleum.)

I repeat the LIFT DOES NOT WORK, EVEN IF YOU NEVER USED IT BEFORE. IF YOU GO INTO THE MAUSOLEUM, BEFORE OR AFTER YOU GET THE KEYS IN THE LIBRARY.

Cause I had my very first professional speedrun brick to the same issue you people describe few days ago. LOL

i got stuck here on my second playthrough. the note said vii xii so i set the clock to 7:12 and did not work. i was about to give up and call it soft-locked when i just started trying other times and 7:00 unlocked it for both clocks.
There's a path to the right when you walk down the stairs after getting the keys, and running towards the elevator, just stick to the right wall until you find an opening
If you get the family insignia, you are not supposed to be able to use the elevator as it is supposed to break before you learn the clock code. You have to take the hallway behind the second clock in the library. It will lead you up to the room where you place the insignia.
Just to let everyone know who think the elevator is a bug. there is actually another door open, its not located on the map. But another way to get upstairs if you solved the grand father before getting the instructions. Its actually pretty close to the elevator.

f you're facing the elevator, go right and hug the wall until you see an opening to the left, which leads upstairs.

ITS NOT A BUG BUT ALTERNATIV ROUTE!!

is not a bug.

It has to be. You have the required items to progress but the game does not let you - that's a bug fam. I just fixed it by not intentionally doing the clock puzzle first.

Dude, it is NOT a bug -.-

If you play Assisted/Normal mode the time set is 11:04
if you play Hardcore/Professional the time is set 7:00

i NEVER go upstairs anymore, and even all the speedrunners skip the entire place by going to the basement immediatly, just beware when coming back upstairs the room is different so you will have to turn left immediatly crouch and then right and left to get upstairs again.

this is because you didnt solve the hidden staircase and the enemies didnt clear a path to the center of the room so you will have to walk around it.

Here is a video so you can see the full part skipping the elevator part and the upper clock puzzle:

You use a key on the elevator, not the insignia. In the maze room with the two knights, you have to walk past them into the narrow corridor that has a stair well that leads up, that's where you use the insignia to unlock the gated door in front of the lever that trapped Leon. You're basically done with the segment, you just got lost. It happened to me too. There is no bug, you just didn't do the lamp part to get the elevator key that just leads to a room with the piece of paper for the clock puzzle and the key ring that is solely for optional treasures. None of these are mandatory to finishing the segment.
Ahh so it's a bug. Was wondering why the elevator wasn't working.

If you don't care about treasure you can go straight through the first clock and save quite a bit of time. Capcom obviously considered players doing this and designed it to work this way. No bugs or soft locks involved.

The problema is that after that you cannot access the stairs or the elevator with Leon
If you aren't using the typewriter, autosave will break your game here. Why is this not patched after all this time?
Skill Issue lmao
