Game crashing occasionally
The game itself is bloody fantastic so far, but whenever I start a new chapter after clearing the previous one, the game crashes and I have to restart my PC. Thankfully after restarting I've been able to proceed with the new chapter normally. But I would still like to know what I could do to prevent these crashes.

My PC (AMD Ryzen 5 3600 + Radeon RX 590) doesn't quite meet the recommended specs but I play with relatively low graphics settings that do maintain a stable 60fps most of the time.

UPDATE: I lowered graphics settings even more, getting rid of some extra effects and now there was no crash after Chapter 6 started. I did this after the game crashed twice on me at the start of Chapter 5.

UPDATE #2: I've played the game more with most of the settings on low, game maintains solid 60fps most of the time but sometimes it does still crash, requiring a PC restart. Is there anything more that I could do aside from getting a better graphics card?

I know it's late, but it seems like VRAM usage is what causes crashes. Use 0.25GB textures and lower shadow quality. That should avoid crashes.

I just cleared the game with pretty much everything set to lowest settings, there were still some trouble spots. I don't think gonna touch this game again until I get better hardware or there are some patches that rectify the crashing issues.

game is simply too demanding for your card it seems

I only had one crash in the island on my first playthrough (not sure what caused it, wasn't the usual crash reason i was seeing around here) and have yet to see another one.

Haven't had any performance issues either. Maybe i've just been lucky.

Maybe, but I've seen a guy stream this game with a GTX 1050 Ti which is AFAIK even lower than my card in terms of performance yet he hasn't had a single crash...
Maybe the game favors Nvidia cards, I dunno :P

i experience crash as well at ch10 fighting in the tunnel. My pc is 5800x + 4070ti. I believe there may be some bug on the render

Have you fixed this? It's a polaris issue, my 570 also experiences it.

Nope, in fact I've uninstalled the game for now. I might play it again when I have better hardware or there has been a patch that fixes these issues.

Seems like it's finally time to upgrade our GPUs.

You probably just turned up your settings to exceed your vram limit. The game doesn't seem to handle that well. I play it on whatever default it set to and it looks and runs fine so I've only had one crash that seemed to be because I crossbowed somebody that fell off a cliff.

No if i remember correctly some amd card to this era (the rx 500 serie is a refresh of the original rx 400 ones) lack some dx12 capabilities....And it put some torubles with some games (as Forspoken but with dxvk the direvt x toward Vulkan wraper it work).

Nvidia card at leats on Pascal so gtx 1000 doesn't have this problem.

Just look with gpu-z or other software for look the dx12 capacities your cg cna handle (and have in fact drivers include).

At all means it's that...high chance. Old gen amd cards are know for this behavior.

GTX 1080 definitely has no issues on the settings automatically set and it looks so good I never tried to increase it further.

I kept the settings well below my cards VRAM limit according to the menu and the game still had a tendency to crash :/

I tried different settings with the FSR, it felt kinda random whether they helped with the crashing or not. Near the end I just put it on "Ultra Performance" and there were no more crashes for the short duration I had left at that point.
