Imo Re2r and this is more of a reimagining but that's does market as well as remake.
I love old school tank controls and fixed camera resi and hated the 2 and 3 remakes because they turned them into third person shooters.
However, RE4 was always a third person shooter. I had my doubts after the demo but the full game has blown me away so far!
You don't change it to fit the current times.
Demons souls lacks in that regard. Visuals are amazing but the rest ain’t.
Good god, thank you! I have been saying this ever since it was released. Demon's Souls plays exactly like it did, making it extremely outdated compared to today.
A true to form remake my examples are DSr and Shadow of the Colossus remake.
Seriously, I love Demons Souls (and all the souls game) but the remake was very disappointing in that regard.
The pure gameplay aspect, everything of it, stayed the exact same and you can easily tell by how utterly clunky, slow and unresponsive it is.
You can play both side to side and will have the EXACT same experience.
RE4 has been re-released to death over the years and wouldn't be very appealing if it was just another re-release with just newer graphics
Even the remake of re1 changed quite abit, so did the MGS remake
I would agree that RE2R could be called a reimagining because they took it too far. Any gamer who really enjoyed RE2 would have prefered it to be remade like the 2002 RE1 Remake. Playing RE2 in 3rd person was fine but it wasn't RE2. There was no connection at all. It was RE2 in name only.
But with RE4, the connection is real. This remake even with the completely streamlined level design and the removal of the shakey laser aim still feels very much like RE4.
