Yellow paint is also all over the environment as well as yellow flags. It's been a staple of the RE games for some time now to have bold yellow on things you're supposed to interact with and it does, at times, feel a bit patronizing to look around and find the solution because I saw the giant splatter of yellow paint on the wall before I even had a chance to look for the solution.
If you honestly have an issue with some yellow paint highlighting intractable points in the environment, then that's a "you" problem, not the game.
You do realize that sometimes people want to figure things out for themselves, right? This isn't as simple as "highlighting interactable objects", which you're not understanding or willfully ignoring.
As an example, there is a point where you shoot down a drawbridge. But one of the anchors is hidden from view. However there's a massive splatter of yellow paint on the wall right next to where the anchor is, meaning you don't have to look around for it whatsoever. I have no problem with the anchor itself having paint on it, but why even 'hide' the anchor if you're just going to advertise it with the paint?
If you're perfectly okay with the game guiding you like this, that's fine. It didn't ruin the game for me or anything and I'm simply illustrating that it is indeed something that could bother some people. You don't have to be antagonistic in replies to everyone and say things like "That's a "you" problem" simply because you disagree with them.
Oh for christ sakes. There is no "figuring out" when it comes to a box. It's a box. Not a puzzle.
I've been gaming for over 30 years. There is a big difference between some yellow paint and an NPC literally telling you what to do in a boss fight or nearly every puzzle in the entire game (see God of War Ragnarok).
People complain about so many things that ultimately do not matter, so yes, I am antagonistic about it because it's quite frankly a stupid thing to piss and moan about.
Also, there's a mod for removing the yellow paint, so have it at.
Gotcha. You're clearly not reading what I'm typing since you keep saying "It's a box." So this discussion is over as you lack reading comprehension.
Nah. I just don't give enough of a hoot to entertain your inane complaint more than I already have.
Try just enjoying something without thinking the game developers are calling you stupid for making exploration simplistic.
I think this is merely confirmation bias at work, here.
I'm sure you do.
1) I had no complaint, really. I simply replied to you to tell you that there is more than the boxes that have yellow paint.
2) It's a well known fact that these features are put into the games as a result of players becoming lost or confused during QA. I understand well what purpose they serve and, contrary to what you think, they are equivalent to characters yelling out suggestions/solutions.
The thing you seem to be misunderstanding, perhaps, is that we are simply saying that functionality such as this, including talking NPC's in games like Ragnarok, should be optional.
There is no "I think the developers think I'm stupid." They put it there because people got stuck at one point in QA. That doesn't make those people stupid, either. Some things take longer for some people, and that's fine. But especially with the current golden age of games' accessibility it wouldn't hurt to have functionality such as disabling these signposting features in-game.
You have confused people complaining and people giving feedback/criticism. I can love something and still witness and be aware of its flaws. I don't think the devs are bad, stupid or otherwise because of this feature.
You said "it feels a bit patronising." That is a complaint, so I don't know why you're saying one thing and trying to mean something else.
There is nothing wrong with developers adding in some extra help for people who are unable to locate environmental objects like breakable boxes. Would it have been better as a toggle in the menu? Yes, but it isn't there.
I know exactly what you're saying. I am saying, quite literally, that it isn't an issue. If you don't like it, there is/will be mods for removing anything you don't fancy.
Perhaps you and I are cut from a different stone. When I see things in games, I accept them as part of the experience. When you see something, you go on a forum and complain about it. Back in the old days, we took what we got and were happy with it, hand holding or otherwise.
