The censorship: Opinions
I see some people complaining about the censorship in this title when comparing it to the original. The usual comments they get are derogatory in nature which I do not understand why. Do people nowadays want games to be censored? In my case I care less (but still care) about what was censored, and more about why it was censored. Having people dictate what I can and can't handle for whatever reason be it political or otherwise irks me. What about you guys, especially the ppl who want more censorship, I am very interested in your opinion.

I'm not sure I would say it's censored, just different. Yea the chainsaw man doesn't decapitate Leon anymore, but you also couldn't completely blow apart enemies in the original. And while chainsaw main doesn't decapitate leon, the kill they replaced it with is still extremely brutal.

re 4 remake is pretty much spot on not as intense as the original with panties and looking up skirts but there is still some flirting

no the worse censorship is resident evil 4 vr version

I've seen this brought up multiple times. What's been censored? I know, I know, PANTIES R GONE AAAHHH but like what else?

My biggest issue with this whole panty thing is the double standard when it comes to optional stuff. Looking up Ashley's skirt was always optional and you could simply choose to not look up her skirt in RE4. Usually when it comes to optional stuff the consensus is "don't like it? don't use it". Now the OPTION (can't stress this enough) is just gone. If they wanted to not offend the people who are afraid of "accidentally" looking at a pair of panties they could have implemented a toggle for that. Bayonetta 3 did exactly that for example (called Naive Angel Mode). I cannot comprehend how people are in favour of less options ...

Also people tend to ignore censorship in general as long as it doesn't affect them. It's a slippery slope though. I own the original RE4 on Steam aswell and that one got censored to a "low violence" version here in Germany. Censorship sucks period.

I think this is your problem lmao, any decision they made couldn't possibly be less about you if they tried but you're in here making it about you

So no one knows what, if anything else, is censored? Just the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ panties? It's called Rule 34, welcome to the internet.

This has to be a meme, there's no way people are really this unhinged.

Also censorship is absolutely not the right word to use here. You can still purchase and play the original game with exactly the same content it's always had. They literally haven't taken a single thing away from anybody

Literally the only people crying about censorship are crying about the fact that you can't be a perv in the game.

I don't care either way if it is or is not in the game but I really have no idea how anyone's life could be so shallow that not being able to perv in a game is what makes or breaks the game for them.

Not sure what all was censored / changed besides Ashley, but that was one of the reasons I decided to wait for the bargain bin price before buying this game (if I do at all).

I mean, I was interested of course when it was announced, but when there's Kotaku articles being put out saying that RE4 "gives them hope" for the woke changes being made... well, that's a pretty strong endorsement to not buy this game.

I don't want my games being made with "western sensibilities" in mind, or trying to appeal to "gaming journalists", and my hard earned money certainly won't go towards games that are going down that route.

Pre-ordered both RE2 and RE3, but not this one. We'll see if it ends up just getting buried and forgotten as time goes by for me. There's always plenty of options and games competing for your money nowadays that skipping Capcom titles (or anyone else) isn't a big deal.

If you're buying a Resident Evil game because there's a few lines about panties you really need to go find something else to play. There's a million adult games on Steam that do more than mention panties a couple of times.

You, sir, understand and perfectly understand the world around you. Without any kind of sarcasm, I congratulate you. If more people thought like you, we could aspire to have true artistic jewels and not rubbish passed through a comfort filter so that the wokeistas of the West do not start crying. The censorship was the first red flag not to buy it, but I can tolerate it because I know modders can fix it, the second was the price and the 3rd was Denuvo. 3 Red Flags mean "Do not buy this game".

It's that you're missing the point. It's not about seeing panties, it's about NOT CENSORING. The original work included that and if you're going to do a faithful remake, you should include it. If it bothers you that it was in the first place, then buy another game that doesn't include panties like the thousands on Steam. This censorship is based on the moral decadence of the West, which believes that its perugnant and rotten culture is morally superior to that of the rest of the world. SPOILER: It's not.

Some people take any criticism of Capcom and their games personally, hence the defense or denial of censorship.
