Is Windows 10 a true hard requirement?
I'm getting real pissed off that I'm being forced to use a bloated ♥♥♥♥♥♥ OS just to play new games.

EDIT: Alright, how about this: Can it run on linux, or is it Windows-only? I can easily justify dual-booting to linux on this ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

EDIT 2: Okay, lemme explain the problem to everyone cuz everyone's dodging the linux question: I'M NOT NECESSARILY OPPOSED TO THE IDEA OF RUNNING WINDOWS 10. It's a bloated piece of ♥♥♥♥, but compared to 11's dumbass design decisions, it may as well be the second coming of Christ. The problem is not that my PC would be completely unable to run it. It most certainly is capable.

The problem is that this computer has been used for a good 12-13 years now, and as such has so many programs, settings changed, and even a couple registry modifications, that installing Windows 10 over it would just absolutely destroy every change I've made, and every program I've installed.

I can't justify that when this is my only computer worth its salt enough to run games.

Fortunately, I have parts to build a new one, but not enough parts to completely build an entirely new PC (I am still missing a graphics card and a PSU). My plan is, once I get my hands on those, I install Windows 10 on there and begin the long and arduous process of reinstalling on there, using my old PC as a guide.

Until I can complete the transfer, I can't just go around and ♥♥♥♥ with installing Windows 10 on here, and by that point, it'd be useless anyways.

So can we PLEASE just answer the damn Linux question so I can find an interim solution?
I'm partial to the idea of using a Steam Deck, but I may also be able to just dual-boot SteamOS.

EDIT 3: Steam Deck it is. Maybe by the time I get my hands on one, the bugs'll be fixed.

You could always just buy Stream Deck and play games at cinematic 25 fps if you don't like Windows 10/11.

lmao, I could easily run it if OS wasn't an issue. Problem is, starting over is two-and-a-half pains in the ass.

Stop complaining around. You can literally deinstall and deactivate everything on Windows 10.

I get the hesitance of making the leap out of Win 7 but in all honesty when Microsoft drops support meaning no more security updates running a game on that OS should be the least of your concerns. All the security holes just became craters and multiplied exponentially.

Now I know your prob. going to refute that but this is where you get on google and educate yourself.
Windows 10 isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Windows 8/8.1 are the true pieces of trash. Windows 7 was crap on my end, got corrupted and just died on me, Win 10? Never had an issue for years.
