Its considered the best in the OG and from what I've seen of the remake (note I don't have it yet, myself) seems to be the case. Overall, it is the better and more consistent option. The first rifle that is bolt action is also good but the dmg is overkill wasted on normal mobs and the slower fire speed and exit scoping on reload is a hindrance. However, you can use it on bosses and mini-bosses to great effect and you can always use it at mid range without the scope so either one is going to do well. The last one is considered kind of bad due to ammo woes and its a... assault rifle.

It depends on what your role is for it.

If you are using it to fight crowds, stringray.

If you are using it to kill bigger guys like chainsaw, giants, bosses etc etc the bolt action.
You'd end up wasting 2 to 3 rifle rounds to compete what the bolt can do fully upgraded in 1 shot.
