Is the Sentinel Nine (Deluxe gun) better than the Red 9? It seems like it isn't

I have the deluxe version of the game and the Sentinel Nine, the handgun that comes with it, has inferior stats compared to the Red 9. Only ammo capacity is better. For those of you who have tested both weapons, is the Red 9 better? What about the deluxe shotgun compared to the regular one?

Why don't you just compare the stats directly with the in-game menu that even shows you what the max stats should look like (without final bonus upgrades). By the time you get the Red-9 and Sentinel Nine, the base damage of the Red-9 is at the same power as the fully upgraded Sentinel. Simply it does way more damage.

It's also harder to aim, doesn't have laser sight, and has lower capacity, so it's up to you what you prefer. Overall I would say it is, as the Red-9 was regarded by many as the best handgun in the original anyway (unless people liked 100 mag ammo), and I doubt whatever the final upgrade for Sentinel Nine is brings it on-par.

Its up to you. You can beat the game with stock guns, so it doesnt even matter.

The sentinel can fire very fast, like 4 shots in the time the red9 can fire 1 shot. So consider that.

sentinel is kinda wack. use the blacktail if you want fire rate/damage/reload speed balance, or red9 for pure power. punisher is also good. best laser sight gun imo. default handgun exclusive makes 5x headpop rate if you want more point and click popping.

What range? Range goes away as soon as you hit the castle. I can think of a few instances where your aiming mid-long range and your better off using a rifle. And at mid range REd9 is fine, with or without the stock.

I love the Red 9’s power but I hate how inaccurate it is. Thinking of switching to the Punisher due to its laser sight+penetration.

Even in the Castle. I just found the starting Pistol, or later, the Blacktail to just feel... 'better'. In comparison for Accuracy and quick-fire. And long as you aimed for the head, you could almost always save bullets with Melee hits anyway. If I needed a real PUNCH. had a Magnum or Rifle for that.

Full upgrade Blacktail + Punisher to get melee on shields. The very very slight damage increase of Red9 can't compared to having basically double firing rate with Blacktail, and many parts of the game will actively feed you pistol ammo if you're empty, which can be abused by holding crafting materials before these parts.
The Starter pistol though, or the deluxe one, are ok, 30%~ crit chance, which shines on enemys that need more bullets. I share the same sentiment as most, that during the last location, it feels weaker?

As for shotgun, Riot is just overall the best one in every category with Striker being notable for it's wider cone and has more pellets or additional hit zones, but the kill speed isn't faster despite this on boss fights.

The Deluxe weapons are never the best, at least in 7, reRE:2, reRE:3,and 8. I don't know if they were in the original, but I don't even think there would have been one back in the Game Cube days.

I know this is an old post, but I just started playing this, and just grabbed this gun.

The way I see it is that the Sentinel 9 is going to be way better to start with, especially if you have the 5 x crit and the laser sight on it.

Once you get the stock for the Red, and similarly have the relevant upgrades to improve it, I think it will be a decent gun. A lot of people rate it highly, but I think you need to get the stock first, before it's really worth using.

I'm likely going to send it to storage and then just see how it goes when I can get the stock for it.

It costs 100k for the last upgrade though, so is worth using a golden ticket on, if you are planning to use this gun.

I think the 5 x crit, laser sight and high mag size really put the sentinel 9 over though. That and the little Sawn off you get from he Deluxe edition are both really cool weapons. The 9 is a straight upgrade from the standard version, and the Sawn off offers you some high stopping power, in a small package... you just have to get in really close for it to work, but then that's how classic RE players are used to using shotguns, anyway.

If anyone see's this though, be cool to hear your thoughts on the Red Vs. the Sentinel, and if at which point would you consider switching out?

I think if you don't have the Sentinel, the Red is much clearer upgrade choice to the starting 9.
