Fatal D3D Error (22)
The game crashes with Fatal D3D Error (22) when connected via HDMI to an OLED TV (specifically LG 55C1PSA) I have a MSI Crosshair 15 laptop ( i7-12700H, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060 8GB, WIN11X64) with all drivers up to date. With a standard monitor (AOC 24'') the problem does not occur.

I'm having a very similar problem with an LG C1. It will start as expected on another monitor, but not the TV.

Ii seems like it is trying to load the intro logos, but loops the connection to the device until a crash.

i9-12900K
32.0 GB (DDR5)
RTX 3080ti
Win 10 (22H2)
GeForce GRD 531.41

Is there a large resolution difference between your monitors and the TV? It could be trying to run at a higher resolution and overloading the VRAM which, in this game so far, is a death sentence to a Fatal D3D Error.

Both monitor and TV are 4k. I'm able to start and have tried both lowest settings and recommended settings. Highest I had it at was 75(ish)% VRAM usage.
I was getting these errors yesterday after loading into my save file (about 1-3 seconds after I could see Leon). Turns out that for some reason it changed all gfx and RTX setting to ultra between the time I exited after playing for the first time, and the next day when I played again. I just re-adjusted everything back down from the settings in the main menu, and the everything was fine after.

I don't know if this is what's going on in your case, but GL m8.

I have the exact same setup as you, just a different LG OLED. I am receiving this error

I'm having the same issue except I can't even play the game, everytime I start it, it just crashes over and over again

I think this is the issue everyone is having. I did have some luck when dropping my native resolution to 1080p. I do not consider this a resolution, and Steam will not refund the game because I spent over 2 hours trying different settings to get this game to work.

Hi, hey, does anyone know how I can change the game resolution or disable ray tracing without entering it? I have the same problem with an LG OLED TV. The game opens in a windowed mode that almost covers the entire screen. After displaying the NVIDIA logos, it seems like it's going to switch to fullscreen correctly because there's a moment when the screen darkens. However, then an alert sound plays and this error message appears. I've tried everything, even changing the VRAM values to 16000 and 32000, but it doesn't work. I've updated drivers, changed compatibility modes to Windows 8, but nothing seems to work.

If you're still active I'd appreciate any help, having the exact same issue that you had (every 2-5 mins the game will crash with the fatal D3D error (22)) but i see you have over 40hrs on RE4 now, how did you manage to fix your problems?

You may not be talking to me, but I am still having this problem. So your not alone. According to my D3D logs, it receives a fatal error when attempting to switch to 1080p from my native of 4k. I have had luck manually setting my desktop to 1080p, but do not switch back to 4k else this error will happen. The graphics settings as stated in a few forums is irrelevant. I can run max everything without any problems as long as it stays at 1080p@60 >.<

I'm having this same problem, a crash with Fatal D3D error (22, DXGI_ERROR_INVALID_CALL, 0x887a0001), every time I launch. I can work around the problem by deleting the graphics settings (so they revert to defaults), then launching the game again. Go to the RE4 game page->gear icon->manage->browse local files. Then I delete the file "local_config.ini". The game will now launch again.

Once the game has launched, I can change graphics settings to what I like and it runs great while I play. But next time I launch the game, ka-boom, it crashes with this error again and I have to start over. I'm running the game on an LG 4K OLED (C9), via an NVIDIA RTX 4080. Leaving various graphics options disabled or turned down low doesn't resolve the issue.

Capcom has some unfortunate bug in their graphics engine - do some searches and you can see people running into this issue with Street Fighter and Monster Hunter as well. Microsoft's documentation here (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/direct3ddxgi/dxgi-error) says this about the error (DXGI_ERROR_INVALID_CALL, 0x887a0001): The application provided invalid parameter data; this must be debugged and fixed before the application is released.

Hahaha apparently Capcom did NOT debug and fix the issue before release. Presumably it only happens on a relatively uncommon configuration.
