Textures keep swapping between super low res to high quality
I keep seeing really low res textures then after a bit they'll magically be high quality, I guess you call it texture pop in? Any ideas on a fix or is it just the game

Edit: I should add that it's not every texture just specific ones, like the walls in the first house

Yup I got the exact same issue, the textures just keep jumping from very low res to very high res without any reason, I tried tweaking a lot of settings but so far, none of them did anything.

it's usually a problem with streaming in higher quality textures fast enough. It was present in quite a number of games in the past, hopefully is patched. Until then you may try decreasing max texture resolution, so you remove a bit of load from your GPU trying to load very high res textures into the VRAM fast enough.

Even with textures set up to minimum, I still have the issue, I hope this will get patched, because other than that, the game is running wonderfully on my PC and is an incredible amount of fun !

I had this.
I managed to fix it by resetting my NVIDIA control panel settings by using the "restore" button.
I have no idea which particular setting did this, but restoring all of the settings to default seems to have fixed it for me.

I saw this happening both here and in Village occasionally back when I played that. It personally doesn't bother me much but I can understand the frustration. If I had to make a guess, it's probably something to do with vram constraints, as I only got a 6 gig card still.

I've been wrong it seems.
Further testing shows that this is a "Mesh quality" related issue, and so i set it to "High" and don't seem to encounter these PS2-era textures anymore.
Doesn't seem to be a glitch, it's more of a built-in feature related to that option.

After tweaking some settings, I found out that the texture pop-in is actually coming from...the texture setting itself, from my understanding, lowering the setting doesn't actually lower the textures while in-game, it lowers their streaming.

So basically the game only has very high-res textures by default and this setting simply adjust how many of them can the game render at the same time which is....very weird and distracting because it makes the game actually looks way worse than simply lowering all the textures altogether, it makes for a very inconsistent look.

I don't really know why they did this, I cranked it up a lot and my issue is now mostly resolved, my amount of VRAM usage is in the orange but it still seems to run fine.

care to share what exactly you changed? thanks :)

Wow... that's crazy really. Good find, if that's true. I have no idea why would they do this. I mean you should load textures as fast as they are prepared. Those settings sound crazy. Amateur dev team... honestly.

Also you should be safe with a bit high Vram usage. if you exceed your Vram, the picture might freeze some seconds at times, but if it's not happening often, you are good to go

Digital Foundry also pointed out that the texture quality is effected greatly by your resolution. Basically, if you play in 4K then you'll get higher resolution textures across the board than if you're playing in 1440p or 1080p.

RE games do this on SSD's as well. It's an issue with the engine and their compression method on PC, it has nothing to do with the end users hardware. It's been a problem as far back as RE7.

Changing the mesh quality to high , depth of field on and the textures (vram) to high 1gb seemed to fix the issue for me I'm using a 4gb rtx 3050 95w tgp graphic card

Change "texture quality (VRAM)" to high (2 GB)

After a while of testing I discovered something interesting. When the texture configuration is set to 1GB or less this problem arises. Here's what I discovered by chance "Start the game at 0.5GB then set it to 0GB and then back to 0.5GB and magically the problem almost disappears completely. Unfortunately it only lasts until the game is restarted again."
