FPS drop when aiming down scope?
Just got the rifle and its pretty irritating for my game to stutter every time I aim with the damn thing, anyone got a fix?

It's not a bug, and it's not because of the scope lens effect. It's because the game is rendering two separate viewports, one for the zoomed in scope, and one for the periphery of the screen that's not zoomed in, both in full resolution. It's a more realistic effect.

What's funny is the game actually pulls the camera to Leon's eye level, and his hair is removed temporarily when scoping. You can see this through a 3rd person model viewer. As soon as you drop scope, his hair returns, so that while aiming down sights, his bangs don't clip into your aim.

I mostly get the scope FPS drop (with my 3070) during rainy areas, or areas with a lot of fire/flames. I turned down Rain and particles and that seemed to work.

maybe they should add a toggle in a future update, because honestly its more of a hindrance

Yes it's very blurry but I play on the Steam deck for the time being until my PC is fixed. I don't remember it being that bad on my PC though.

I have a different issue but still scope related as the vignette causes the screen to go very dark when scoping in as well as the scoped resolution being very pixelated.

I worked around the issue by using RE Framework and Reshade with the Simple Zoom shader set to a button on my mouse. It is better than nothing that is for sure.
How exactly has the zoom shader helped? Like what does it do?

Is it an option in RE framework or part of reshade?

You elitists make me sick, I'm on a 3080 and still had this issue. It was fixed with verifying the files and turning off vsync and motion blur. You types always think you know what you're talking about, PiP isn't necessary for that effect. Stop posting

What are you talking about? PiP/render target is the effect in question.

The only alternative would be making a separate scope effect that either obscures your peripheral vision (blacking out the rest of the screen and just zooming the viewport), or doing what Battlefield did for the longest time and just unrealistically zooming in the entire screen when you scope in.

Hats off to computer tech devs. They have people bragging about how good their computers are, arguing with each other in forums, all while mindlessly paying increasing increments of thousands of dollars just so they can render droplets of rain and ugly, blurry effects better. Guess what also has amazing graphics, yet costs nothing? The whole world outside of your computer screen.
At this point Devs of Capcom don't acknowledge the issue because they made the game for their rigs of 2022-2023. Taking in account 2015-2021 rigs was not practical for business. So yeh there is no issue for them our rigs are are the problems even if its year old of 2022 its your, my, our, community problem. Usual Capcom.
I’ve started having this issue on playthrough 9 (yeah I have problems) along with other performance issues ever since the Mercenaries update. And I’m running a 3080 and 5800x3d. I think Capcom did an oops somewhere.

Rtx4080 never noticed this at 1440p but changing to a 4k monitor I now notice this stutter and frame drops when zooming.

A little elitist. I am trying to play this game for the first time in 2024 with a 5800X cpu, 32gb's of RAM, and a 3070 Ti FTW3 Ultra PC (not a potato rig but not super high end either) and in 1440p with mostly High/On settings my framerate drops to like 24-30 when I aim down the scope, it is horrible and almost unplayable to aim with a controller like that.

Thats bizarre. One thing I would be careful with is your texture setting, I think you don't want to go higher than like 2.0 or something.

Is your gpu driver updated? When I was playing I was on a 8700, 16gb ram and a 3060ti at 1080p and my fps didn't drop to anywhere near that when aiming down the scope.
