new to RE: are there checkpoints?

I'm only about an hour in but everyone just went to bingo and i'm looting. I have to step out for a few and haven't saved at a typewriter since before the village clearing. obviously I can't save without a type writer but i'm curious if the game maybe auto saves after certain areas?

Typewriter are hard saves and you should have an icon when the game creates checkpoints in the left corner. I noticed it in the demo already and it's still there. The old game saved when ever you went through story related doors which I'm not sure if the checkpoints are that frequent now.

there should be a type writer right after the village fight if i remember right

Advance a bit into next area, there will be another typewriter before you run into next enemy.

Also, yes, the game has quick safe feature.

yes. there is a save slot dedicated to autosave when you enter new areas.

The original doesn't have checkpoints but this does seem to have some kind of autosave/checkpoint system as I alt-f4d and when I reloaded I was not at a typewriter.
