Back tracking question

Is it possible to get back to the village after getting into the castle?

I heard that during atleast the first part of game to backtrack before you finish the church in chapter 3. After that particular area you can't go back. So heads up on that section anyway

Ah poop, I went to castle already leaving some stuff behind. I've just noticed now that all the side quests from village say "failed".
Gonna do it right on 2nd run, don't really want to restart for 10-15 spinels
