The treasure will always spawn regardless of treasure map purchased status. There's a hint of treasure if you don't buy the map. You can listen to its hanging sound to know its somewhere nearby hanging on ceiling. Those treasure on the ground or table are straightforward and you don't even need treasure map to spot them.
Thank you! I know it's only 1 but those add up after a while and given they're a finite resource I'd rather not spend them on something unnecessary.
Also on a note about the merchant... Upgrade your weapons. It is safe to do this and sell later for weapons you don't plan to keep such as the initial shotgun/rifle (and obviously if you keep them then its safe naturally). They sell back for around 95% of the spend ptas... Once sold you can't get them back until NG+ though, but not really an issue.
