Totally not: it has trash reload and a absurd time to aim. I bought it, tried it and then sold it.
Actually its good to shoot crows and other side quest items and even then it does not always hit them straight..

They massacred my boy...fully upgraded (no mines yet) is bad against regular granados, but it stunned the bull guy with every shot. Gonna investigate more, but for now it's a lot weaker than it used to be

In theory it sounds good, reusable ammo. In practice, it suck balls.

It is. You won't lose the bolts, they are quote "infinite", they only break if you use them as mines. They are useful to kill a nearby ganado without making everyone else on high alert.

Fairly useless other than for mines.

I ended up selling it, it was useful somewhat for early game hitting crows or collectibles so I didn't need to use pistol ammo.

And how do you do that when a bolt to the head doesn't even kill them? and then then alert everyone else.

I immediately turned to bolt action rifle because its my choice of loadout in og re4. Bolt thrower is just... rip.

It's fine for 1v1 fights, and even then only in the early game. And you probably shouldn't be wasting knives for crafting mines

Definitely, it saves a lot ammo, that you can use for the tougher enemies

I found it to be pretty awful. 1v1 It's okay but the HORRIBLE travel time on the darts made me toss it in the bin.

I've not tried the bolt thrower but for enemies like the bull guy, chainsaw, etc. I recommend just find a ladder, climb up, and shoot with pistol in head until they're near top. Swap to shotgun and pop once in head they fall 100% time on hardcore. Swap back to pistol. Repeat loop until dead enemy.

The ladder trick still work to some extend and glad to see people are putting this trick to good use
Given that the game no longer penalizes you for selling an upgraded gun to use something(unlike old re4) else I’d say it is worth it. It cuts down on ammo usage a lot. Headshot, melee trigger, headshot, melee trigger rotation lets you kill multiple foes. Even if it gets obsolete later on, I would pay for itself by letting you stockpile a lot of ammo.

The bolt thrower is pretty good. It helps you save ammo and it stunlocks enemies pretty easily. If a ganado is charging you, a crossbow bolt will stop them immediately. I've been getting a lot of mileage out of it by shooting them in the legs twice then suplexing.

There's also a room in the latter half of the castle section where using a quiet weapon makes it A LOT easier.
