No replay of chapters
This instantly puts me of playing the game and now feel short changed,
because i have to collect everything in one run and now i have to start from scratch.....f. that.
This game is not an open world and chapters destroy the experience.

if this is not going to be added into the game then they need to let the player know that carrying on will cause you to fail some achievements. in a more obvious manor.

personally for me the 1st run tends to be collect everything, then try a different mode and focus on a different achievement like speed runs.

so now i wont play another mode because whats the point if it going to punished in such a harsh way. especially when i don't use cheat guides and enjoy finding things for my self.

Punished? Yeah ... ok.

If you were intending on getting 100% achievements in one run anyway, I'm not sure how to tell you this, but it takes like 4 runs at minimum under optimal settings/conditions. Maybe like 2 or 3 more if not.

This is how Resident Evil has always been*. Just because they divided it into chapters for RE4 (because of the original) doesn't mean the formula has to change. This is not an Open World Quest Game.

The integrity of the playthrough is important in this type of game. If they just allow you just to reload previous chapters then it would destroy the continuity of the playthrough.

* Edit: except RE5/6 which I haven't played in a long while, but maybe why people stopped considering them being Resident Evil as they abandoned the mechanism of key items and continuity where you can just re-load and obtain whatever you want and strategy of having playthrough integrity and making items critical have been abandoned. Resource management being abandoned for just being able to grind to get whatever resources and resource management goes out the window.

The only actual collectible the game has are Los Ramóns Pequeños and those are being kept after finishing the game. You don't need to recollect them all. All sidequests, well, okay, if you want to do all of them, got to be in one run, but if you replay the game anyways, you'll want those rewards and the sidequests don't take long and are almost all of them done along the way; even faster when you already know about them.

Having chapters doesn't make much of a difference, either, as the game has "natural" backtracking prevention anyways. Once you leave a certain area, you can't go back regardless of whether there is division into chapters or not. The merchant usually warns you about proceeding before such points of no return and you also can make savefiles, so you can always try again if you missed something.

Would a chapter select hurt? No, but other than for the "all requests done" challenge, there wouldn't be much use for it if you can just as well make your own savefiles literally at the beginning of each chapter. And if you don't want to spend too much time on that, you can do the challenge with all sorts of extra stuff that allows you to rush through the game in one afternoon.

RE5 and 6 allow you to do this for some reason. xD

Gotta play the game at least 4 times to get 100%, so, don't worry about it.
Also, the merchant warns you.
"If you've got any business left to do, this would be the time. You don't want to think back and, wonder 'what if', do you?" or something like that.

Honestly that wasn't the case at all.
It stopped being an RE-esque game because the atmosphere and gameplay leans heavily towards action with a very subpar plot. It deviated so far from the Survival Horror Genre and has almost no Survival Horror element towards it with the exception of Leon's Campaign in certain parts of the Campaign in RE6 or "Lost in Nightmare" DLC in RE5.

Plus the Chapter select gravitates heavily with Co-op Play and Co-op Lobbies. No one is willing to do a single co-op playthrough if they haven't the time. The lobbies are there to pick things up or replay it with friends.

As a single-player game, RE5 and RE6 is mediocre and is better off being a speedrunners wet dream. It's honestly okay as a singleplayer standalone.
The Co-op scene however is just fun and makes the campaign significantly more bearable.

There's a reason why the game has multiple save slots (though why they're not unlimited I don't understand). You had the option to make a save in a new slot at the start of each chapter rather than saving in the same slot.

You also don't have to restart from scratch either. NG+ exists. You'll be suprised with how fast you can beat the game if you start with upgraded weapons, case and HP.
