An observation about chickens.
Certain chickens in the game are roosters, and other ones are hens. If you look for the wattle below the chicken's head, and a large spread of tail feathers that's a rooster. Hens won't have a wattle, and will have a very small spread of tail feathers. Roosters don't lay eggs, only the hens do that. I've found most brown chickens are hens, and most white chickens are roosters. Don't waste your time following behind a rooster waiting for it to lay eggs. Thanks for reading, and have a nice day.

And even more niche detail about them:
The hen at the throne room will lay eggs again and again, until you throw one to Ramón's portrait. It seems there's also a max egg limit of 5 but I'm not sure.

6 was the grand total I was able to get out of that hen before she stopped.

So many of the eggs are fertilised. So they would hatch by the end of the game if you kept one long enough.

Would be neat if there was a mod to turn them into acid grenades

I've literally waited about ten minutes for any of those to lay an egg so I wouldn't have to waste the golden one and eventually figured they won't because you're supposed to use the gold egg if you don't have any other on you.

Another minor point as someone who has raised chickens. All the chickens in-game crow. But in real life only roosters generally crow. Not unless the hen is some weird rooster/hen hybrid... which is incredibly rare, but I've have seen that once in my life so it is technically possible.
