I kind of resigned to the idea I will never get the next outbreak game I want.
It was a product before its time (PAL versions not even including online.. not that it mattered because who the hell had an internet hookup to their PS2 back then
I hate and don't understand why everyone wants over the shoulder shooter cam though... I would be over the moon to see Capcom go back to fixed cam for atleast *one* of these to appease us fans..
An Outbreak remade in the streamlined RE2/3/4 remake style would be formulaic and boring and just be another dime-a-dozen multiplayer shooter IMO. Would lose so much if it didn't focus on the heroes all being weaker than normal and needing to rely on eachother to solve puzzles.
Resistance and Umbrella Corps makes Operation:Raccoon City looking good.
I know, I know. ORC wasn´t stellar either but it´s atleast entertaining with 3 friends ( the AI sucked balls however)
The idea was great, you get to play a civil character in raccoon city's saga. You get to investigate, learn more about side characters and even what happened to some places!
The bad thing about it was that not many people had a ethernet adaptor (I'll say, I'm from brazil and never saw one PS2 owner have it), and the main mechanic was the online interation (because CPU was crap...)
After RESISTANCE, I don't think Capcom would give Outbreak a chance, and even if they did, I would be one step back about it... Up until now they're desperate to do any online game with Resident Evil work.
I made then run through all the Raccoon City days, since the very beginning. Alot of PC died and they only got the vaccine DAYLIGHT in the last day just like in Outbreak, so the infected characters had to do some mad sh1t to survive until then.
And yes the game was ahead of its time. The online requirement for the ps2 when people did not have an ethernet adaptor really hurt the games player base
