it's people complaining that things they enjoyed, like ogling women characters bodies, are not looked upon so lightly so less of that is in the remake.
The only thing I'm going to take issue with is this in what is a overall well-reasoned post. Nuance disappears with scale. Just like with 2 party politics, it's impossible for a collective voice to espouse nuance the more people are a part of it. It's not a social contagion, it's a phenomenon of public discourse. And it's just how it is. Large groups of people solve broad problems, smaller groups of people solve specific problems.
A well thought out and articulated post. Take my points.
Fair point, however, I believe it's more so that nuance is diminished at scale, but it should never be lost. This is a new phenomenon in which everything is magnified more than it ever has been due to the internet and social media colliding with a 24-hour news cycle.
People used to disagree on numerous things, but not so much that one couldn't have a friend from across the aisle. These days, we're so polarized that many people refuse to even associate with each other if they disagree with them on like 5% of issues despite agreeing with them on everything else. That's not really normal, we're having a hard time adapting to our exponentially advancing tech from a sociocultural perspective.
I think in a few decades, society will look back on this era as a turbulent time as society grapples with the ongoing paradigm shift we're undergoing.
Much obliged.
Because people can't accept the fact they are being aged out. Many people who enjoy this series are now in their 30's or 40's. They can no longer related with the youngest generation that is pushing new trends. Times have changed and people are in denial.
What was fun and edgy then is different now. Woke is a term used to fight political correctness for certain theaters.
Let me lay it out for everyone here, if you are 35+ you are now moving into the obsolete period of your life. You are dawning your suit of dead weight and young people can't identify with you anymore. Get over it, be yourself, continue on until everyone disdains your old ass self and says you should be living in a cave and not allowed to venture outside lest you oogle a child, drive too slow, or look ugly.
Cheers :)
Except the young people don't seem to like this stuff that much, otherwise companies like Disney, Warner bros, etc would be in profit and not laying off thousands as they undergo organizational restructuring.
You can just look at any company's ticker on a 6M time frame and any company that focused on ESG goals are all down ~50% from 2021 highs. What was the last MCU movie that one would call an objective success? It was SM: NWH, the movie that was a love letter to fans, and went on to earn over a billion domestically. That doesn't really happen for MCU movies anymore.
but after seeing few friend that already playing it, they kinda nerfing lot of characters charm specially Leon dumdum joke which was the most iconic things on the original.
i think capcom nerfing lot of personality because they are afraid of even small backlash on whatever its from the west. eventhough it was the main charm of the game itself.
personally i will never call the remake the replacement of the OG, there are reason why 4 is the most beloved series from the entire RE series and people didn't want the game to be screwed by stuff like "adapted for modern audiences" kinda stuff.
Yeah, this game isn't really woke, so much as it's just toning down the camp. We think we would want all the camp to be intact, and maybe some of us really do, but I think it's a good thing they toned some of it down. It would be hard to get immersed, and we feel more like a '90s-era cartoon than it would a survival horror action game.
true, people will have their own taste on what is Resident evil.
but 4 for me personally, i prefer at the very least almost 1 to 1 dialogue for this installment.
because whenever i mention 4, people that know it well will reply with whatever dumdum joke that leon said so losing that 90's joke was kinda a shame.
beside the immersion, the dum joke are one of the reason people love 4.
But then again, not like its surprising having someone from the US imposing their morals and personal tastes as the "correct thing to use in the global stage".
